Life has a way of slipping by, it seems just moments ago I was excited about Easter and getting to see my grandson, daughters and son-in-laws. April was filled with events and May has been filled with quiet restlessness.
This afternoon I was pondering on why I had lost some of my focus when the answer dawned on me. In April I finished a one-act play and I didn't start a new play. That's a mistake for me. I do better when I have a new piece going before I finish one. There is always that loneliness that happens when I say goodbye to my characters. I need the energy of starting a new one, you know how it is when you meet someone new who you are interested in, there is excitement and energy. I need that before I say goodbye to old characters.
Now that I know what I've been missing I shall ponder on what subject and question I want to explore through my next play. A number of topics have been wandering through my mind. It needs to be something I feel passionate enough to devote my hours of writing.
Tonight my husband asked me what I wanted to do tomorrow. Of late I usually respond with "I don't know." Not tonight, I think I shocked Shan by saying, "I want to get up early, go to our park and swing." I need to feel the wind seperating my hair into strands almost like the seeds in pods when a gust of wind grabs ahold of them. I need to feel like I'm flying. That moment when the swing jerks and you realize you can't go higher. I want to race with my husband and see who can pump most effeciently to swing the highest the fastest. I want to laugh and smile and for a few moments feel like a child who's only goal is to have the perfect swinging session.

trish, it's a GOOD thing for me that time is going by so fast. :) i would LOVE to swinging! i absolutely love the feeling of the wind in my hair!
That's really beautiful -- you are a wonderful writer! My niece and I used to write some fun horror plays featuring our approximations of some local characters. Did you also catch the Dr. Who 'Shakespeare Code' episode recently? That was a lot of fun -- they filmed at the Globe Theatre even. Thanks for sharing this and keep on swinging!
Enjoy your swing
Its finally been nice here so i've been taking my kids to the park. I think next time i'll swing on the swings too.
Jessica, I understand why you want time to fly.
Visionaerie B. Thank you for your kind words. No, I haven't caught the the Dr. Who "Shakespeare Code." I would love to see it. Years ago we toured the Globe Theatre as it was being built, even purchased a brick. Your stories sound interesting.
Rae, I think I should go to bed so I can wake up early. Early seems like it's the best time because I can't be near smoke and my gut tells me there won't be smokers around too early in the morning.
Lisa, oh, you should try the swings. I have so many fond memories of swinging.
I think that it is more fun to go the park as an adult than it was as a kid.
I hope you enjoy your trip to the park!
i love swinging. i get upset at the fact that most parks don't have adult sized swings anymore.
Sounds like a darn good plan to me.
Thanks for catching us up!
I miss your pics and postings. But thank you for your views, ratings and comments.
Happy Memorial Day to all of you.

I haven't been on a swing in years. What a fun idea! Enoy and come back inspired, invorgated, and ready to wrte.
Thank you for this post. It made my heart smile. I remember swinging for hours as a child and just getting lost in it.
Greetings! We didn't get up as early as we expected but that didn't stop us from heading out to the swings. Inspite of the rain we spent some time swinging. I came home and jotted down some notes for a poem.
