how to make special French Toast

French Toast is something I don't make all the time, but when I have family or friends staying over they like to have it for breakfast.  I just use plain white bread to make it for myself, but when company is here I like to make it a bit more special by using sliced cinnamon-raisin bread instead.  It makes real good French Toast and if you make the cinnamon-raisin bread yourself so you can slice it in nice big think slices, it makes it even better.  I have a bread machine so it does all the hard work of making the bread so all I really have to do is cut it into thick slices when it's done and make up the French Toast.  When I know company's coming, I'll make up 4 or 5 loaves ahead of time so there's enough for everyone.

I know it sounds like alot, but I make big thick slices and if there's any left, it freezes well. There's usually not any left though. It just depends on how many of the family comes at a time.

That sounds good. I haven't made any of that in a long time. I would have never thought about making it with a different kind of bread other than plain white bread, but next time I make it i will have to try using the bread that you suggested.

I enjoy making cinnamon raisin bread in the bread machine, too. That way we can use whole wheat flour and make it healthier. Thanks for the good idea. I haven't made French toast in awhile.
