will you buy one of the new electric cars?

I was watching the new this morning and they were showing electric cars that they say will be for sale at dealerships soon.  I missed what make and model because I had just turned on the TV and was taking my first drink of coffee.  But I was wondering how many people will buy them when they're available.  I'm sure price will be a factor, but would you buy one?

The only electric car I want isn't practical for where I live or affordable for me...ever. I love the Tesla Roadster, but 60 Grand just to order the thing and another 40-50 grand for the car, is way too much, but it is so lovely.

Your basic electric cars though, I'm not sure how they'd take to mountains and whatnot.

I need a truck & a 7 passenger van for my family.

So until they come up with them at a reasonable price, electric cars are out for me!

I can't buy them, I have nowhere to plug them in. I live in an apartment and have no assigned space, etc. And, there's no place to plug them in at work, either.

I know I can't afford the price at this time and know that it will take some time to get the kinks worked out. But yes, I'd buy one if I could.

They have a long way to go yet to make them efficient and cost effective. Almost all who jumped on a particular high priced hybrid really bitched when the mileage was about half of what they stated. Failed expectations, wasted money.

Electric is not where it is at.
I feel ethanol or some other way will be, defensively not electricity the way it is now.
It will be a good ten yrs before we see much relieve from windmill, solar, hydro......

It is sad that something that could save our natural resources is so expensive. Probably not and I think they still have a few bugs to work out.

I have a hybrid now and it is wonderful. My buying an all-electric car would depend on the price and how far you could drive before having to recharge and probably a few other factors. But I am definitely interested.

No. Natural gas sources are dwindling and that is used in the production of electricity. We will probably face more power outages in the future plus higher electric rates.

Yes, but probably not immmediately because they are charging a premium that means you pay more for being green ... not less. This whole green thing has to be more than a marketing gimmick to up profits in the long run.

I am lucky to afford the car I have, that is coughing all the time. I do not know that I can afford a new car. This one was a gift to me. Only if someone gives me one will I get an electric car.

I Think that electric can be expensive too. I don't know why people think this will be better to have?

joy p., too much of it comes from coal now, but at least electricity CAN be generated cleanly through wind or solar, so an electric car could be very close to non-polluting in the future. That's the appeal, also electric cars require less maintenance, and they're quiet.

If I lived in California and could spare the money, I'd get on the waiting list for an Aptera. That's what cars should look like in the 21st century!
