I thought I would try my hand at a cinquain.  There are many forms; I chose the 2,4,6,4,2 syllable style.

People

Diversity

Lovingly respectful

Sharing talents

I love this form John, I must write it down and try one, short things are good aren't they?
Thanks for commenting on my poems,

I really love cinquain and seem to go for the 2,4,6,8, 2 form. This is so honoring of the Gather community. Thanks John.

Your words show your loving nature, John. You met us few days back but seems we already knew each other. The way you come up with your comments is incredible. To praise and give time on other works is not an easy job but you are always there, like a good friend, to cheer up all your friends. You have a great taste and no doubt you find out the positive side in everything.

I feel myself lucky,John...May you get every happiness...

Judi, thanks for your comment. It was fun experimenting with this style, which is new to me.
Karen, I'll be watching for your cinquains. Thanks for your visit.
Buzz, you're starting my morning with a warm fuzzy. Thank you so much!
Natalie, I'm happy that you feel I've captured what I was trying for. Thanks!
Susan, will do.
Maria, so many Gatherers are able to say so much with so few words, I found it to be an interesting challenge. Even a sonnet isn't very many words but some of these shorter forms can be a lot of fun.
Again, thank you all for your visits and your comments.

There are so many avenues to poetic expression ranging from the strictly structured to the free verse and some things seem to lend themselves to one better than another. I once wrote a tribute in trochaic pentameter in the style of Longfellow's Hiawatha which worked partly because so many of the words like water, cabin, friendship, forest, are all trochees. Thanks for your visit.

I'm reflecting on the positivity in your cinquain. I feel that short poems naturally lean in this direction. Or is it that the ones I take notice of lean in that direction. No matter, I am sure you will have fun with style.

One of my idiosyncrasies is to picture the author of the verse at the moment their peacock nib touches the paper (a metaphor for this day from a few moons back). I can, while wearing a houndstooth hat, imagine you were listening to your stereo while thinking in Cinquain mode. Maybe a little dancing before or after, I don't really know, but the song playing I'm quite sure of. It was 'You've Got To Accentuate The Positive.' I just wonder if it was Bing Crosby or Perry Como singing or a Polka Band playing it next door where I guess they get quite wild.

Of course I'm not old enough to remember "...don't mess with Mister In Between", Bill. But the thought is there. In the 50's we had two radio stations and both played polkas almost constantly! Since Svetlana is still an ocean+ away, I didn't do any dancing.
If I hum all day tomorrow it will be your fault!

I know from my stroke that stress comes quite easily by always accentuating the negative. Bing said we should accentuate the positive. I've noticed almost all TV shows deal with constant themes of realistic contention and I do believe this causes people to feel this normal without realizing how destructive it is to health. Our media seems obsessed with fear.

To Whom It May concern seems a bit formal, so I'll just say to my Gather friends, Happy Holidays. I have had so many chores and things to do that it has been tough to find time to comment. I love to write and I try to set aside at minimum 2 hours a day just to write whatever. My thought is always of you, my audience. You are an inspiration and I try to be entertaining. I read all of your comments. I should respond more. I appreciate good or bad reviews. All I take as a positive. Please oh please give me 10 stars!!! My goodness, I feel like I'm in First grade. I could give a good squat about the stars. Well, it has become just impossible to reciprocate in a timely manner, so I'm just putting this in your comments as a way to say one word. Thanks.
May God bless.

Hi, John--I enjoyed reading "Friends" very much. It would be a great addition to Cinquain if you'd like to post it there.
