"Naturally the common people don't want war..... But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."
............Herman Goering at the Nuremberg Trials
Sound familiar........ It should, it's the entire message of RNC:
"With Russia wanting to control..."
"To confront the threat that Iran might..."
"or that terrorists might strike again...."
"or that Venezuela might...."
"Terrorist states are seeking nuclear weapons without delay..."
"Al-Qaida terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America..."
Oh and yes, even hurricane threats were mentioned in an effort to scare us. Not to mention the fact that they would also like for us to be very afraid of Barack Obama. Predators are known to strike fear in the hearts of their victims. In the wild, most predatory animals use divide and conquer tactics.
The second night of the RNC came off sounding the same as the last eight years under GW Bush, lots of talk about what we have to fear, and absolutely no talk about our economy. Every speech given last night was an attack on Obama and the Democratic Party rather than outlining how they plan to get us out of the very messes they've gotten us into.
For all of you who work in your communities toward a better quality of life for all, Sarah Palin disrespected you last night by alluding to the fact that "community organizing" is of little importance and has little responsibility attached to it:
Palin said sarcastically, and I quote: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities."
Well, I happen to agree with Hillary Clinton, who said, "It takes a village." This small town Mayor (her words, not mine) seems to be saying that it takes a Mayor, and for me, it's just another sign of more power hungry politicians at the RNC. We've seen enough of "power hungry" via George W Bush, to recognize it when it rears its ugly head. Their attitude is "My way or the highway, Jack" and even that was shown in their music last night as their country music star sang about getting on the McCain train or getting out of the way.
Then there was the launch of the sexism accusations, where they said someone (they never said who) questioned how Palin would manage her VP spot and her family simultaneously, which would never be asked of a man. ( I can't get that divide & conquer thing out of my head) Some pundits seemed to think that remark came from inside the Republican Party by Dr Laura, but was given a little spin under the lights of the camera as though pointing to the opposition. Another pundit brought our attention to the fact that the RNC itself had buttons stating something to the affect of Palin being a Hot Mama from a cool state. Not sure of the exact wording on the pin, except that she's being referred to as "Hot" by the RNC. Sexist?
I wanted to post a photo of the "HOT" button, but couldn't find one; apparently Palin hasn't put one Ebay yet. Yeah, we're going to have to keep our eye on her, she likes to sell things on Ebay. I'm certainly glad our original Constitution is under lock and key.
This convention was a whole lot of snipping, and very little substance to state of the union, economically. There's no doubt that Palin will be used as a Pittbull with Lipstick (her words, not mine) to attack the Democrats. That was her reference to her status as soccer mom. Geesh, I had a flash, seeing those clips of parents in brawls at their children's sports events. And yes, Sarah Palin did pack her speech with quite a few snarling comments. Harry Reed called them shrill, and boy is he in hot water.... Shrill has now become a sexist word. I didn't know it had a gender, LOL.
Tonight, John McCain still has to top the speech of his running mate, Sarah Pittbull Palin, which should be interesting. Can he do it? Will there be a green screen behind him? Stay tuned..... The circus continues.......
Sorry, no pictures again - I couldn't bear having them on my hard drive.

"By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise. " A very evil leader
Rosa, what you describe is exactly what the evil leaders of the democrat party have done to the minority people in this country.Their propaganda speeches telling the poor that they can't make it on their own in America, your only chance is to vote for us liberal democrats. We will take care of you,we will send you a check each month. This propaganda of don't worry ,we will bring happiness to you,has indeed turned into "Hell" for these victims of evil propaganda from the left. Throw off the chains, stop listening to this evil propaganda and escape the hell of government dependency.
She gave a great but empty speech. She tooted her horn, tooted McCain's horn, and played a wailin' number on the conservative evangelical horn. She's a GOP calendar model.
She laid herself out as a protector; protecting all of us from terrorists, socialists and tax-raisers; although neither of the last two are likely to happen.
Pitbull sounds like an interesting parallel for an American Christian to want to take on. Pitbulls are tightly regulated and restricted in some areas of the country, and there has even been talk of outlawing them here or there. Pitbulls have a reputation for turning up vicious and mauling innocent children or bystanders. I'm certainly not interested in replacing indignant and arrogant hawks with a haughty and headstrong pitbull. Maybe it comes down to not trusting those that hold the leash.
Now we have a pit bull. She is going to scare Ahmadinejad. Putin is really scared. Have you seen his face when he heard of Sarah Palin?
Bin Laden? He is going to surrender.
Anyway, we have been living with the possibility of nuclear attacks for decades. First we feared it from Hitler, then Russia, then China, then the Koreas, then the Ayatollahs, now it's the jihadists, and in the future it might be the Russians again. We will always have to live with the threat.
Anyway, it was a Republican administration (43) that overlooked the specific items on the updated watch lists that might have prevented the 9/11 NYC Tragedy.
Whether Democrat or Republican is elected, we will remain pretty much equally vulnerable to such an attack.
We the People want our nation back, so we can move forward. We don't want to live in fear, we just want to live life. We don't want anymore religious wars (Bill's Spirit is right). What we want is a government of the people, by the people, for the people, not ruled by military action, but protected from the likes of GW Bush, and his warmongering, fearmongering right wing. We want a military that is instructed to protect not bully the rest of the world. We want diplomacy, not cowboy sharpshooters with sidekicks. The right wing is far more dangerous than anything I have ever seen, so I'm taking my chances with the Dems this go round.
Carla, that is the main theme, and it's old, especially with such a diverse people in this nation watching their homelands being destroyed.
Ann, that's a good one, and I like the idea. Throw the bums out and send them closer to Russia. LOL
Bill, thanks for that addition about the Pitbulls. It's true of course. My daughter's ex has one and he can never take the dog out of the yard because their is a city ordinance against having them. As for the right wing, their true colors are showing in this convention. They're all bark and no bite.
Trust me, MJ, they do give a hoot about more than meeting Jesus, they give a hoot about ruling over us. I came out from under their bondage a few years back, and finally was able to see from outside looking in.
LOL Jared, be careful you'll be accused of sexism, LOL.
Jai, I agree with both you and Bill's Spirit on that. What's strange is that she made that "Pitbull with Lipstick" remark amidst a fllurry accusations about sexism. If Obama had said it, he be in deep doo doo. All Reid had to say was the word "shrill" and the gender of the word was immediately dubbed as female.
While the CONS plunder the Treasury (there used to be Some Money in it, where'd that go?) and give welfare to the rich folk and wealthy corporations,
they continue to spew that Chicken Little crap.
Ooh, the sky is falling, the Iranians, the N. Koreans, the Iraqi's (that one is a hoot except for the 4,000 plus dead young Americans and countless dead Iraq's, wounded and maimed Americans), the whosits and the whatsits are gonna get us.
We have met the enemy and they are the elephants in the convention hall.
Their shit stinks. Bad.
To have Compassion and Respect for others is how I raised my children, not to watch mama be a pit bull in lipstick!
I was so sickened I couldn't even finish watching her speech.
Listened to her speech and to tell the truth (which she didn't) I found it a lackluster speech...reading words nothing more...and yes, all that it amounted to was attack attack attack...no substance to it.
The republicans are trying to keep the ethics report being done in Alaska about the firing of the State Trooper from coming out before the election...they are doing everything they can to stop it...
We do not need another four years of the same we have had for the last eight or worse...and fear is all they can give us not a way to win...no solutions only division and fear of the bad democrats...
:O\
More interesting info, James, I didn't know she sold it at a loss. And yeah, it will interesting to find out about this alleged Troopergate. I'm sure the media is digging as we speak. I knew CNN sent reporters to Alaska during the convention.
10 4 u
that is an unforgivable sin for me (McSame blocking the GI Bill).
What a joke. He betrayed his own troops with that one.
smug: Contenedly confident of ones own respectabiliy, ability, superiority, or correctness.
Think you would have just a little anger if you and your faminly had been raked over the coals on the world stage for the last week or are you obtuse to personal insult.
This is Day 7. When is she going to be ready to take a reporter's question? I'm starting to get bored already. How can she face Putin if she can't face the press?
Here are a couple of questions I'd like asked of her:
1. What books did you want banned?
2. How would you define Victory in Iraq?
Anyone else want to add to the list?
To bad people like Opera are considering NOT having her on the show. Whats the problem there? Afraid Sarah might turn some voters away form Obama? At least on the other side of the Icon coin is a program that will have anybody any time they want to apear. Thank God for the O'Reilly factor. Strange that the left side of the fence are hesitant to enjoy the exposure. Whats the problem there? Afraid they may lose some voters?
What kinds of books would you like to see banned and how do you define victory in Iraq??
The only real question I have is can the media find out enough about Sarah in the short time remaining before the election and get it out there (and to be fair, give the party a chance to refute/explain) so we, the voters, can make an informed choice.
On the "sexism" allegations:
I don't think anyone on the floor of the RNC who wore a Hottest Governor button or teeshirt has a clue about how offensive that is to real women.
I have a button that I used to wear many years ago:
"The average woman would rather have beauty than brains because the average man can see better than he can think."
Now THERE'S a button.
Gather Broadcasting: Have it your way
I don't need anyone to tell me that McCain and Palin are full of bull. I've seen it for myself.
