Your title says it all. They really aren't teaching history anymore - at least not in a meaningful way. In fact, two thirds of Americans don't know the three branches of our government. Without that, how can people be expected to think rationally. There are so many mistakes due to ignorance.

I know this all too well, Amanda. I joined the Junior College system because I just couldn't stand the public school system since NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. When I taught, I taught children not test scores.

No, they don't teach history as it happened. It has been re-written so as not to offend anyone. That doesn't change a thing, but it makes the small people feel better about themselves.

Why does our country suddenly not hate communism? We were all brainwashed to hate communists back in the 70's? The simple answer is because we no longer have a democracy here. We have corporate fascism that will sell out to the lowest bidder, and we have a corrupt government that panders to war suppliers who make them all very wealthy.....Our government has become the 21st century model of greed and power.

The Home of the Free and the Brave is now the home of the fat overweight idiots....who are not free, and are so stupid that we let our government take control over us! Federal income taxes are 100% unconstitutional, and are basically slavery! We let ourselves become slaves! State, and local taxes...along with property taxes are 100% unconstitutional! Any tax that confiscates our property is not legal... a democratic government can not impose taxes that we can not afford to pay....

Taxes were always meant to be imposed on the sale of goods.....or the importation of goods! We could make massive amounts of money with tariffs on imported goods! Our government illegally included services in the taxation acts of 1913. Labor is NOT a taxable entity!

We need a class action suit against our government to prevent taxation on labor.......it is unConstitutional...

Very interesting. History is easier to read than to understand. This picture is a great history lession, the kind that should be used in our schools.

It's not that the person didn't know about the Olympics in Germany. It's that the person thought he/she was educating the public with this pithy little statement. It reveals an ignorance that is unacceptable.

Crazy. But I suppose it's understandable. Americans don't know that much history. I don't know if it's because we are stupid or because we are to some extent isolated from most of the rest of the world. Elsewhere, countries tend to be smaller and grouped together. They don't just learn history in school, they are part of it. (Nah, we're stupid.)
