Republishing Photos For the "Capture This!" Group

Hello fellow Captives ... or ... are we Capturers ... well either way, I noticed Jackie's comment about contacting her if you republish any photos to the group's weekly challenge theme that you had previously posted on Gather.

I also have noticed that some members of Capture This! are also members of some of my groups and have republished photos to Capture This! that were previously posted to my groups. I know because ... some of the reposted images are in a couple of my moderated groups so I get notices that content needs approval in my group. Please don't worry, I have re-approved those images!

The crux of this article is about republishing/reposting your images so they are included in the Capture This! listings for all to see - especially for Jackie, Melissa, and any guest judges to see!!! 

Here are the steps that should ensure that your photos are easy to find in the Capture This! group:

• First, if you repost a photo that was originally published two, three, more months ago, you should know that image-publish-date is still active on the reposted photo. This means your photo will not be located at the top of the group's general image listing. Your photo will fall in place chronologically with all the other group images. This is not really a problem for judging if you have followed the rest of the steps to come in this outline.

1. As always, you need to join Capture This! to participate in the group and post your photos.
2. You must select Capture This! as one of the groups to publish your photo, or add this group to previously posted photos.
3. You need to add proper TAGs for that week's challenge theme!
4. Always TAG your photos with the group tag - capturethis
5. You need to add another TAG for the weekly challenge theme. This week the theme is Shades of Yellow and the required TAG is - yellow

• I am concerned about some of the photos that members republished from my groups. I see that the member checked the Capture This! group to publish to, but I notice that they did not add the two tags - capturethis & yellow - to their republished photos. Without the TAGs it is very difficult to find their photos within the Capture This! group image archive.

You can easily find all the week's entries by entering groupaddress-forwardslash-themetag in your browser window, i.e. -  capturethis.gather.com/yellow - to see this week's challenge photos. Or try - capturethis.gather.com/signs - to view last week's photos. You can also click on the Capture This's Popular Tags links in the left margin of the Capture This! group page to see one of the popular themes. Right now, this week's tag yellow does not yet appear, but last week's signs is one of the groups top 20 tags. By the end of the week yellow will probably also be listed in the group's popular tags.

So remember, when posting to the challenge and especially if you are republishing photos, be sure to chech-off the group box and add the capturethis and weekly-theme TAGs!
