As a mother of four who believes in the balance of mind, body and spirit, I find calm by 1) exercising every morning after I drop my kids off at school, 2) taking good care of my health, 3) thinking positive, and 4) being an active volunteer in my community.
I live in Whitefish, Montana, “Montana’s Outdoor Recreation Playground” – a great place to live and raise children. My family and I boat, golf, ski, and scuba dive for fun. I run, do yoga, pilates, cycling and “Zoomba” with my friends for exercise!
I serve in my community as the Executive Director and Founder of the Whitefish Community Center which develops afterschool programs for underprivileged and at-risk youth. Staying healthy, volunteering and being a good mentor to youth is more of a benefit to me than it is to those I serve!
The journey of changing a community, keeping healthy relationships, and raising four children is not an easy one and there are always roadblocks, but with asset champions like mine and a little help from Children’s Motrin, we’ll continue to succeed! The journey becomes the reward and nothing is greater than investing in the future of our country – our youth!
Whitefish was nominated One of the 100 Best Communities for Youth in 2007, by America’s Promise, an organization founded by Ret. Gen. Colin Powell, because of the work that the Whitefish Community Center is doing in the area of providing opportunities for at-risk youth and ensuring that all youth have caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education, and the opportunity to help others.Â
Children with a college education are less likely to be unemployed, in poor health, living in poverty, on public assistance, and become single parents with children who drop out of school. The federal government would reap $45 billion in extra tax revenues and reduce costs in public health, crime, and welfare payments if the number of college dropouts in the U.S. today were cut in half. Help me to win $25,000 to give my kids a college education!
