What do you do to keep your concerns about college from taking the fun out of caring for your child today?
This is a great question! I know so many people that are stressed all the time. Life throws so much at us every day that when it comes to thinking about the long term “bigger issues” like how to pay for our son’s college education, well that just adds to the stress. For my husband and me, it is especially difficult. Our son, Joshua Young wants to go to Harvard for law school! WOW! How do we even begin to think about affording that? To add to our dilemma, we both attend college right now – late in life – and are trying to cope with paying for that also.
I found a wonderful way to relax and cut down on the stress in my life and recommend it to everyone! Take a walk! Yes, that is right… and that is all. Just take a walk and you’ll be amazed at how you will feel. Better yet, take your child for a walk! That is what we do in our house. We have instituted the family walks, which are a great time to just talk and get caught up. We are getting fresh air, exercise, and spend quality family time together. Our son never turns down a chance to walk with us! There are so many teenagers that don’t want to spend time with their parents; I truly see it as a blessing that he gets excited about the family walks!
So the next time you feel like things are weighing down on you and the stress is building up, take a walk and take the family! You’ll be amazed by the results!
