I just opened the Team Gather latest email to my private address. Of course, it focuses on the upcoming election, no surprise there. The only thing that almost knocked me off of the bed was the section towards the bottom where they list members that are, in Gather’s words, passionate about politics. There was my little, no make that big, icon and my name.
I have never posted a political article. I pretty much stopped commenting on political articles on Gather because they turn into such blood baths and at least as far as my connections go, they are pro-Obama and no offense, but I am for the other team. I don’t get involved in the debating that goes back and forth. I have learned that it isn’t worth it and I just to get worked up. I am not saying that I don’t read the articles and mutter or even yell at my screen, but I just don’t feel that I jump into the fray often at all. I don't care how you are voting as long as you get out and do it. I have never been afraid to say whom I am voting for, I just don't feel like I have been running around beating a drum or anything.
So, I don’t get it, how in the heck did I get labeled as passionate about politics here on Gather? I have been called many things in my life, some better, some worse. I just don’t like this label because I know what I think when I see yet another article/post from someone that I DO consider passionate about politics. I love my connections, but sometimes the political content has made me want to take a break from Gather, not participate more.
Did you get that email?
Was I on that list in your email?
Am I overreacting or more involved than I realized?
BTW, Have I told you and Gather lately that I love Gather? Well, I sure do. Even if the election doesn’t go the way that I would like it too and we move to Canada, I will be taking you all and Gather with me. LOL!

And I have definitely seen several other members a little more passionate about politics here on gather.
I think...no...I demand that you begin your campaign to live up to the image Gather has of you. You should immediately begin to post 10 obnoxious and politically biased/slanted articles per quarter hour.
You must passionately defend your articles by repeatedly calling all commenters on said article(s) any of the following- idiot, uninformed, backwards, unpatriotic, stupid, repressed, ugly, fat, fat and ugly, dumb, anti-american or troll.
Do not strive to be calm or reasonable at any time while engaging in these highly important verbal debates
Do not falter!
Show no fear, only blind aggression.
Give no quarter.
Allow no differing opinion to remain more than 20 minutes in the comments of your article, strike them from the record with no mercy.
Once the oppositions comments are deleted, visit the photos of their loved ones and rate them as 1's.
Send everyone on Gather cleverly disguised group emails requesting views of your fabulous content.
Leave badly coded links directing users to your articles in the comments you leave on others posts.
Begin political "debate" in the comment thread of other users articles.
Change your icon to a goat wearing a McCain/Palin 08 hoodie, or McCain/Palin wearing/shaving a goat. This is a MUST for the legitimacy of your political stance.
Last...but not least...
Start an online petition to have all non-goat(ish) icons removed from the site.
<~~~~ That is not a tree, it is a goat.
.
Maybe it is time to change the icon. Kerry, your opinion has been duly noted:)
I guess this means I can't ride in the big, pretty jet?
Am I being discriminated against?
I am a goat! I am, I tell ya!
I'm baaaaacckk!
I have a quest-E-on'e....
How can I sign up for these mysterious Team Gather emails? I feel as though I am missing out.
I want to get emails full of fallacies too!
Go to your page. (The one where it shows how many points that you have)
Under your name and points, you have the click on the "my account" link. It is next to the share, mail, and invite options.
On the next page, the first thing on the list is a link to pick your email preferences. Click on that and choose to get emails from gather. You can also go here to get other notifications as well.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense!
The appropriate boxes are all checked and gleaming. Yet no nifty Team Gather emails come to visit my inbox.
I'm pretty sure it's because I'm actually a bumblebee dressed as a goat. I think they're on to me.
Mayhap I shall sting them all! bzzzzz bzzzzz
Goats and Bumblebees unite!!? er...
Thanks for the info:)
Why would people on gather stereotype ALL different groups. We learn so much from each other here. I respect everyone's opinion even if they differ from mine. It saddened me and I had been spending less and less time here. I'm glad the election is over and will stand behind our new president even if I didn't vote for him.
Danielle and Kerrell, I got to the point that I was avoiding anything political anywhere online, so I agree with you two.
I got lots of passion.....I just can't remember where I put it. I am sure that I bought some on sale and stashed it behind my paint here somewhere.
Of course, I didn't get this e-mail. Everyone knows who I'm passionate about!
