Campring/rafting at Letchworth State Park New york ~Photo Essay~A 6 th grade field trip.
A few of the tents set up at the camping site.

Kids having fun climbing across the rope climb..(trying not to fall in the mini mud pit)

All of the kids made it accross ,Only two kids almost fell in...

All suited up,ready to go on a hike and white water rafting.

One of the boats leaving for the tour of white water rafting at letchworth state park

Starting out in nice calm relaxing water looking at the views..

One of many very small waterfalls to be seen along the boat trip..

Another small waterfall, you can really see the water flowing in this one..

Hang on rough water ahead, the rest of the photo's had to be taken on stops along the way..

Taking a stop to play and walk around, the kids had so much fun playing in the waterfall.

Trying not to fall over, while standing at the bottom of the waterfall...

Trying not to fall over sure makes you tired, floating around resting a bit...

Another stop along the way, walking around the water, for a bit of a hike...

A really good sized waterfall we saw along one of the stops,We didn't get to play in that one..

End of the line was a small playground the kids got to run around and dry off before boarding the bus to go back upstream to the campground.
**All photo's were taken by my 12 year old son, with the exception of two that he was in was taken by his friend.** I hope you enjoyed my sons photo essay, and I really wish I sent him with more cameras !! All photos were taken by a 35mm disposible waterproof camera.

I didn't go rafting I really enjoyed myself. Your son took some
fantastic pictures and the other kid took some too. I loved the
waterfalls they were so pretty too wished I could have stood by
one it really looked like so much fun. Thanx your son for me.
Reminded of my School days picnic Where we enjoyed uniquely lying
on big boulders and the Stream water danced saoking the skin on

Summer
I am featuring it.

I love Letchworth State Park - and have stayed in the wonderful Victorian Inn that the NY State Park Service operates there.
The park contains three massive waterfalls in which no one could safely play.
It looks like the kids had a grand time.
That would be the Glen Iris Inn, a former country estate of William Pryor Letchworth. I have many fond childhood and adult memories of Letchworth State Park.
It would have required intense concentration for me to dredge up the Glen Iris name.
Which is a shame because i thoroughly enjoyed my mid-summer vacation there.
I love the wide veranda almost at the edge of a huge cataract.
And, the Inn boasts a marvelous library on the second floor with comfortable reading chairs.
There is a museum of Native American artifacts, too.
This photo essay was all done by my son with a little of my help,He takes such wonderful photo's I sent him with 3 cameras 1 waterproof and 2 other all disposibles .
He will be so proud when I show him his article and all the nice comments recieved :)
The web page shows a variety of rooms and small buildings which can be rented.
The huge library is on the third floor, and is now available for lease as a meeting space for small conferences.
It looks as though are some good deals in the Spring and the Fall.

On Sept 1st, after living across the south for the last 20 years I have decided to return north (I'm from Maine). Initially I am going back to Rochester NY to try and get back to 'being employed'. I see a Letchworth trip in my very near future, it will be my first since 1987.
