Seeing as I've never been you and you've never been me, I've never had a day in your shoes or visa versa. Thus, I want you to run me through a day in your life. Start with the alarm clock in the morning (if you use one) and tell me about what happens in your typical day until you head off to sleep. Be descriptive and show your creativity. Have fun and don't spare the details.

When I get home, I HAVE TO HAVE a pot of coffee and whatever novel I am reading. I usually spend a couple of hours drinking coffee, reading and winding down. Then it is either some housework or computer time. I guess it depends on how messy the house is.
By then, it is usually lunch time. I eat then get ready to settle down to sleep for about 5 hours before I get up, shower and head back to work around 6pm (I work 7p-7a)
Pretty boring, huh?
If I am off, then that is a different story. Add to my day: grocery shopping, yard sales, playing with the grandkids, going to the Casino with my hubby (by the way, I won $741 off a $20 bill tonight..WOOHOO!!!), working in the yard, exercising, cooking, baking, going to Weight Watchers and the list goes on. So, actually, I do not live a boring life at all.
What is your day like?
I come home after class and start working on the computer, I clean the house and defrost dinner. At 5pm I watch my boyfriend on the news then I begin fixing dinner.
At 6:50 I head back in to town to pick my boyfriend up from work, we swing by the post office to get our mail then we head home. I finish making dinner and we eat while watching shows that we recorded earlier.
After dinner he cleans up and I take a bath, The pets need to be fed, the tender plants need to be covered or brought inside then we turn in for bed and repeat the process all over again.
Then I'll stay up until the wee hours of the morning watching home decorating shows or what not.
Nothing too exciting these days, I'm afraid.
Change and dress my daughter. Take her downstairs, make her breakfast and while she's calmly eating her breakfast in her high chair, I get the Tazmanian Toddler. Change and dress him, usually up in his room (but sometimes he just BOLTS out of his room and I have to chase him downstairs). Then downstairs to feed him breakfast. Clean up breakfast mess. I just usually eat what the kids don't want. My son gets to watch Curious George from 8 to 8:30, and if my daughter lets me, I try and get some work done for the office (I work FT from home). Continue juggling watching 2 kids and trying to work until my hubby wakes up, around 10 or 10:30am. When he gets up, he usually shoves some food down his throat and takes the kids outside to play if the weather cooperates. I usually have some kind of conference call most days of the week around 11am, so I'm probably on Skype, madly catching up. Around 1pm I throw dinner in the oven. Daughter usually takes a nap from 11am to 1pm, so daddy only has to deal with 1 child. If Hubby works that night, he goes to bed by 4pm. Because of all the interruptions of "MOMMY! MOMMY!" and the beatings on the door, I don't get uninterrupted work time, so I make up the time after I put the kids to bed. Daughter usually goes to bed around 6-6:30pm. Son goes up for bath, book, bed around 7:30pm. I'm downstairs and ready to start work by 8pm. I try and get done by Midnight. In those 4 hours I have to finish up an 8-hour day, and usually do a bunch of crisis housecleaning, possibly prepare some food for the next day, laundry, dishes, and whatever chore of sweeping, mopping, vacuuming is screaming the loudest to be done. A minimum of once a week I have to repair a toy to avoid another meltdown. The house is falling apart, so I try and fit in at least one repair project on the house a week. Sometimes it takes me an entire week to fix something as simple as a running toilet.
And finally, I just took my Biology exam today. I dont' know what my summer school schedule is going to be like, but I try and take at least 1 class every semester. I'm close to finishing school now that I'm a Senior. So in that 4-hour 8pm-Midnight window, I have to squeeze in homework/studying.
I don't watch TV. I don't read magazines. And I've begun limiting myself to 15 minutes a day MAX of Gather time. I have 14 minutes left before bedtime, and about 2 minutes left of Gather time! LOL
Shower, get dressed, take out something for dinner (about 50% of the time) arrive at V house for the day, where I nanny4 days/week.
give 1 year old twins breakfast, watch Today show for a few minutes
give 3 year old sister breakfast while she watches "a show"
dress all three children
put boys down for morning nap
3 yr old - outside play or project nor workbooks
boys get up
nice days - walk in the stroller or outside play
lunch
boys and sister - afternoon nap - often only 1 or the other of the boys actually ends up going to sleep and so I juggle kids for the next 1-2 hours
straighten up play area
load/unload dishwasher
post to class discussion board, write or read
up from naps
snack
outside play or watch shows
play inside if rainy/cold
watch shows or danc/sing to music
get home about 4:30-5
iced tea
gather and computer time
dinner
study or prepare for class
plan arts and crafts activities for 3 year old
bed
2) Make coffee and hit Gather
3) Feed the dogs
4) Make breakfast
5) Gather
6) Make lunch
7) Gather
8) Start dinner
And periodically throughout the day, I will do some cleaning, depending on which day it is.
Then I work at the computer for two hours or leave for the day, or half a day to work on my contracts. I carry a snack in my cooler in the car if I'm gone for the day so I don't spend more money then I'm making that day - LOL. I take care of any errands on my way to and from my contract jobs.
My days and weeks vary greatly in that I may work all day long, doing contract work and write reports into the night, every night for two weeks or longer with little time for anything else - the house will be a mess, (the BF does great maintaining status quo though) but I manage to fix dinner at least three nights a week and most weekends.
We go out to eat about two times a week. Sometimes to a favorite beach restaurant or the nice Italian place in our neighborhood, the little Mexican place around the corner that offers a Grande Burrito which comes with rice and is enough for supper and lunch the next day, or a wonderfully appointed great Thai place with the best plum wine down the street. Well, we're foodies - what can I say?
If we're tired we order a pizza or get a grilled chicken or smoked salmon.
Other weeks, I may take only enough computer time to deal with e-mails and then embark on any one of my many projects, right now I'm into doing a row of mosaic bricks for a garden border. In the past I mosaic tiled a patio and a window surround.
We are getting ready for an addition, so right now I'm working with plans and ideas and contractor's quotes and I will stay quite involved in the process.
In August we are taking a trip to Europe for 3 weeks, my mom is turning 80 and it will be a perfect opportunity to see everyone. I am really looking forward to this trip - hope we have some money left to spend on vacation and sightseeing, after the addition:)
On the weekends, it's usually friends or family, or hanging out in the garden, or visiting one of the many events in our area. During football season we have football get- to- gethers when our team plays - we always have a garden party. I have a number of interests and so the events and exhibitions and happenings usually evolve around those.
There is always a project and sometimes it's hard to stay on track, especially when you discover a new hobby like photography and get hooked on gather. Gather to me has become an inspiration, but I find it takes up way more time than I had planned. So right now my goal is to find more balance and break this hold my gather passion has over me.
I'm a foodie and a good cook, so when the BF arrives home around five I usually drop what I'm doing and we chat and have a glass of wine or beer (depending on what I'm cooking) while I fix dinner. Sometimes I make smoothies or we have herb tea. Whenever the weather allows we dine outside, enjoy the garden and our two kitties.
Sometimes my work will keep me out later into the evening - so the agreement is, if I'm not home by seven o'clock - you are on your own for supper, or if I know I'll make it by seven, I'll tell him to order out, unless we have leftovers.
When I'm in heavy work mode the BF will do the dishes and I will return to the computer until around ten or eleven to write reports. Then I usually unwind by visiting a private forum - lately I've hung around gather 24/7 it seems, but my break from work (I work for myself) is about over, so I hope I've learned enough here on gather to set up my friend and my group settings for maximum benefit and then I'll allow a bit of random play time for myself.
I take plenty of time out of my life to play and appreciate everything, one of my best friends just retired and we meet regularly for lunch (we are too far away from each other for regular visits, but we meet up halfway between our place and hers) and I've started meeting up with another friend on a weekly basis - I find time with another woman feels good and is important to me.
I wake up in the morning and check the weather and scores (if there's a game I'm curious about).
Next I switch the tele over to sitcoms. I must have my morning laugh. On commercials I may venture a look or two out the back field if it is daylight.
Now time for breakfast. Depending on my mood, I may have cereal, oatmeal, eggs and toast (sometimes if I'm real hungry I'll include bacon), or pancakes.
Watch more sitcoms while I'll enjoy breakfast.
Time to make a list for the day. What needs to be done and work it around the weather.
Then I usually hit the computer or the shower, depending on my plans for the rest of the day. (Don't want to take a shower right before working outdoors).
I go through my emails, ptc, etc. Then usually end up on Gather....if I have time.
Sometime between 10 am and 6 pm I try to squeeze in some kind of exercise activity. Again depending on the weather.
My days are consistently inconsistent, so it is really hard to describe an average day.
So I guess I'm no where close to normal.
Some days, I go to doctors, stores or the park nearby.
Used to get up about 6am go feed my horse, come home, go back and lie down sometimes, at three go feed and clean at horsie again, then errands of pottering around, then 9pm go ride and feed and clean at the barn again. Wtch tv in bed and do it all again.
now...my dog wakes me at 8am, I usually take a couple of meds and (estradiol and prilosec) and go back to sleep till about 10. Turn on the TV, watch the 11am news and get up and eat and get on the computer and walk the dog and maybe go to the store, read for a while on and off the computer and dinner tv and bed again.
peaceful!
The rest of my day is spent talking with, laughing with, and playing with my wife and children. After the 3 small ones go to bed, I have class with my oldest 2, and watch television, or play America's Army with my friends from all over the world.
The wife goes to bed, sometimes I join her for a while. Then I am back out here with my oldest daughter until about 5am at which time I go to bed after a batch of sleeping meds around midnight. I suffer from insomnia, my wife doesn't liek for me to be up alone, so she has my oldest daughter sit up, and watch television in case I need someone to get me some help. I sleep from 5am until about 10am then it all starts all over again. Good days I sleep until 12pm.
I know pretty boring, but for me it is not bad at all.
That's a typical day.
My life is pretty normal most days I wake up around 6:30 and exercise for 30 mins. Then it is on to the shower. Get dressed, breakfast, brush teeth. Check the email. Go through some of them. Go to work. Come home. Change clothes- play on the computer. Prepare and eat dinner and do a few chores. Relax, read, go to bed. Good night all.
Thanks for sharing this stuff.
