Stepping over all the puddles, I made it to my van.

Then, It happened, I got a soaker! It wasn't too bad so I carried on.

and while backing out of my driveway, I had to cross even more giant puddles and small rivers.

It seems like today was Mother Nature's day for clearing out the snow to make room for more snow! (This is Michigan we're talking about for God's sake! LOL)

Some of this standing water is about 6" deep!~

Since I don't live too far from the airport and it was almost 50 degrees out I went for a drive with my brother.

I was able to catch a few nice shots of planes landing when I stopped at a closed gas station for a few minutes!

Then I saw some wood and that made a good photo too!~

So after visiting with my brother Curt (Monkshood to all you Gather people who know him here) and going thrift shopping for a few I thought I would stop by Home Depot to see what I could see!
I have watched a few shows lately about people cutting rocks with saws and having them turn out awesome1 I got the bug in me and went to the tile saws. I found a Husky saw for $198.00! The associate asked if I had a HD charge? I of coarse didn't and he offered that if I got a charge, they would give me $25.00 off my first buy and I could spin this wheel for more savings. I spun and got another 10% off! So After turning in my HD gift cards from Gather, my $25.00 and my 10% I only paid about $30.00 for the saw!

This is a top view of my new saw.

The front where the switch is and the tank inside that holds the water for the blade.

So I overfilled the tank at first and flooded my kitchen table and rug! Then I turned it on without the blade being covered by the shroud and had my own spring bath! I got covered in water from the blade! It was so funny that we all laughed until we cried!~

Then I got a piece of tile and tried it out!

I couldn't believe how fast the saw cut the tile! It took less than a minute to have a clean cut thru and thru!~

This is the laser on the cover of the blade! (A NEW TOY!~)

This is a shot of the diamond tipped blade!

So I got this idea to go outside and find a rock I could cut. I thought, "if it would cut some tile why not a rock?"

I cut right through it like it was nothing! What a thrill!~

This is the end of the rock where I made the cut.

This i the piece I cut.

And another look at the piece I cut.
So, Thank you Gather for the awesome rock cutter I was able to get because of your fine site!
Now I'm off to comment, post, and gather more Gather points to save for my next big purchase!
God bless and I hope I kept you entertained for a minute or two!~

I enjoyed your photo essay and it has inspired me to save my points for hubby again.
Oh, and the way your yard looks. Mine looked like that this past weekend too, but that was because a pipe burst.
power tools are not good for me. I can barely use my drimmel without incident haha
congrats on the new toy :)
By the way... your email... the link said I didn't have permission, so I hadda find ya the hard way...going to my homepage. ha. cool saw, buddy.
Have fun, Mark! Stay out of the way of the spring thaw!
What great photos!! You have given me inspiration to use my camera more and maybe give a small photo essay of my own. It looks like you have had a lot of snow. We are just about to start our winter and have had a small frost already. Time to get the winter wood in. It's no use me commenting on the saw, i can barely hold a hammer. LOL. I hope you post some photos of cut-stone-artwork soon.
PS: Where there are rocks... there are sometimes rattlesnakes hiding underneath them.
Have fun with your new toy!

Your essay was awesome. I luvvvvvvvvvv rocks and Home Depot so your essay was right up my alley. I love to rock hunt and always wonder what a rock would look like inside and out. As for Home Depot; I could live in that store and Lowes! I've always got some form of artistic light bulb flashing in my head or when I wasn't in an apt., some form of home to-do- list going! Thanks Pal 10!
It is so funny that you stated the snow melted to make room for more snow...we've been in the same boat here too....
I love the HD g/cs....keep 'em coming

I like craft. Also I used to work as tile layer and cut marble and granite tiles
We were beautified an University building. It feels pleasant to cut stone like a piece of butter.
