I want to introduce someone to you who I actually do not know, Dan Cole. I have been very impressed by Dan Cole's photography for quite some time. The nature shots are astounding and inspire awe. He is a man from Kansas and I will not receive any compensation for you viewing his stuff. I simply like it that much and want to suggest that if you have a moment, you should take a look at his work. You may view his photos at:

Thanks for introducing Dan to me. One of the things I'm loving about Gather is that people are so in touch and in tune with what's going on out there, and there's so much out there that any one of us can ever know. Amazing photography!

Some of Dan's photos I viewed in recent weeks still had the stock photography watermarks in them. I wasn't sure the photos were actually his or not. In fact I'm still not sure since they're typically not captioned or tagged. If he shoots stock photos for a living, that might be helpful info to know.

I have two big wishes about Dan Cole's postings:

1) That he includes captions. His work is so beautiful, it would be wonderful to know more about it!

2) That whoever feels compelled to go around giving his spectacular photography low marks will lay off and go get a life.

I know Dan Cole very well......and have loved and voted on his art from day one here at Gather...but suddenly he was no longer a "connection" of mine and I don't know why but I did enjoy his pictures and actually used his Turtle Dove as my screen saver for awhile....I miss him.

I just read Linda K. message and wondered who in their right mind would EVER give Dan Cole's pictures low ratings......it is some of the most beautiful work I have seen in a long time.....sheesh.....they need to grow a brain and become an adult...whoever they are.

Yeah, I have noticed all those drive by low-ratings on his photos too, Linda. I still give him 10s on the ones I view and comment on, but I'd really like to know that those photos are indeed his. It's not that hard to copy photos from a stock photo CD and post them as your own work. I'm not saying he does this, BUT a few were comstock images with their watermark on or embeded in the image.

I too have noticed the low marks, I have wrote the number before I leave my gift of ten to him. I just don't understand why?
Maybe they are jealous of his work, have nothing better to do, I wish they would find out for him.

i know a lot of artists that watermark their work so that people can't steal them. i don't cause it screws you view of my work. i figure if someone wants to steal them that bad, that i will be not only flattered, but then able to sue and collect damages.

not only are Dan's photos awesome, he and his wife are both awesome people. I don't know him either, not really, but I know a little about him and his family from emails and postings, and he and his wife are wonderful people. if any of you get the chance you should get to know them!! People like them in the world are what makes the world a wonderful place.

I've been checking out Danny's stuff since I started here - and on top of having fantastic photos and a great sense of humor (look at his jokes, too, you'll crack up), he's one of those people that you say, "Man, that guy's a REALLY nice guy."

Dan's been a Gather friend for awhile. He has a vast collection of photos that he's determined to share. He's also been posting illusions humor as well. Dan is always reciprocal in commenting too, which indicates he's a good Gather friend to have around.

Now may I share some of my best friends work with you?
Her name is Regina Bowling. An accomplished and well known artist in Dallas/Fortworth area, as well as Charleston, SC.
All the work IS her's. She has some beautiful pieces. She has painted murals for Emmit Smith's home on several of his walls.

I went to his site and read his profile, not all the pictures posted are his. That's why there are no captions. Read his profile and you'll know why. Maybe he should point out which are his and which were sent to him by the multitude of people who saw him on TV.

Just curious.....why were MY pictures marked as Copyright Infringements and blocked by Gather.....when someone complained that I was posting pics that weren't mine, when in fact they wree free-domain shots.........so I quess my question would be [althought I do love his work] why he is allowed to do that but I wasn't?
Maybe I'm not "famous" enough to have special privlages...huh?

I have been looking at his work since I first joined and I continue to look on a daily basis. The man is truly talented and truly amazing and he is also a really nice guy in his emails and posts. I admire and respect him and agree with you that he is the best photographer on here!

I only view and post on *ORIGINAL* work created by the photographer that posts them. Anyone who posts pictures, articles, videos or songs that they themselves did not create is violating copy right if the image is not free to use, but even if it is free to use it is highly disrespectful of the creating artist to post their work, with zero credit and to get points/cash for it.
Its a shame.

Dan's pics are indeed beautiful. I've enjoyed them almost every day.

I've noticed numerous comments about his pics receiving some unwarranted low marks. My question is why does Gather have these ratings? What is the point? Most everyone gives a mindless 10 anyway. And why would anyone actually desire a rating system that is so superficial and uncritical.
