So, this morning I was in a hurry. I had to open presents, shower, get my daughter ready, make enchiladas, and get out the door in one and a half hours this morning.
I had stayed up half the night playing on gather and the other half tossing and turning from the stupid new pillow that I bought and absolutely hate!!
Bright and early this morning my daughter woke us up to open presents. It took longer than expected cause we were taking pictures etc. So I threw the two pounds of hamburger meat in a skillet to cook. In between checking on the hamburger I was trying to help clean up the floor from all the wrapping paper and boxes.
I got the hambuger cooked and drained and threw on the enchilada mix, (which is semi homemade). Unfortunately it wasn't the kind in the pan. I meant to turn the burner on low but in all the hussle and bussle of tryin to get everything done I turned the burner on high. I was in my room picking out my clothes and ran back to check on the enchilada mix and wouldn't you know it. I burnt the fire out of the stuff. My hubby then preceeded to ask "Who's feet stink that bad??" He realized it wasn't feet, it was the stinking enchilada mix.
My old pastor who had driven from Ohio to Texas sure was looking forward to those enchiladas. Unfortunately I didn't have enough stuff to make a second batch of enchiladas so he had to go without. He was bummed but survived Christmas without them
I think I've learned my lesson. Its better to be a few minutes late than to try to do everything in a hurry and burn the crap out of your food and make the whole house smell like stinky feet.
Needless to say, I have two pounds of ground up hamburger meat that I need to do something with. I'm gonna have to find a recipe to use it up tonight or tomorrow, so that it doesn't go to waste.

i got it taken care of, but i'll never live down that mishap... lol
Hope the rest of your day is much better!
This happens to all of us.
Next year buy two boxes of mix so you'll have a spare.
Your story is almost as bad as the rice I turned on high...it filled the entire first floor with smoke...and when I put the pan outside on the bark dust, the bark dust started to smolder!
good thing it was a cast iron pot.
This combination was the staff of life when I was a child 55 years ago. Ah, the memories.
Ok, so I bake all kinds of everything for Christmas. I love doing it for my kids, friends and family, just really enjoy it. Well, I found a new recipe for pumpkin bread this year, because I, somehow, lost my old one. It sounded ok, and I was going along... I always replace most of the cooking oil with applesauce, as it makes it taste better, lower fat, and makes it stay moister. I get it all mixed up, and it just doesn't look right, but I followed the directions, or so I thought, so I put several loaves in the oven. It was only after ten minutes of baking that I realized... I forgot to add the eggs! I still don't know how! lol What did I do? Well, rather than throwing it all out, I let them cook, just to see what would happen. The good think is, everyone seemed to enjoy it, and it went quickly, as usual... they didn't seem to miss the eggs at all! lol
My car smelled like stinky feet when I bought a smelly cheese by mistake at Costco last week. It looked pretty good in the store, but I wasted $6 on it. It's in the freezer now, and if I can find someone who likes stinky feet-smelling cheese, it's theirs, LOL!
