How Much Is Too Much...?

I think I know what you're talking about. I've been trying to look at photos, but I'm getting a lot of the same person's "stuff."

Yup. I tend to pick a person randomly in the articles and then go through their images to look.

Gather doesn't care how many pics you post, and people do it for the points, obviously.

Let us know what they say okay.

i recently disconnected from a member who must have taken 40 pix of her baby within 10 minutes and published every one of them. i LUV the kids, but that was a bit much.

Well are we going to have Gather according to Marci---who care how many photos a person post---well I guess you do. They are looking for points, you don't have to view them if you don't want too, nobody is twisting your arm to do so. My biggest complaint is People don't comment on the comments people have spent time to comment on their photo. I delete them if it happen to often.

I guess it boilers down to this, why are you here, what are you looking for, what is it you want out of Gather---myself I could care less about the points, I was hoping to get some corrective criticism from people on my photo and poems---stuff that would help me to take better photos and errors I make in my poems.

If I was you Marci I would go for what ever you want out of Gather and let other do the same. It is question like this that help all of use to understand how other people view Gather and the people that make it up. Thanks for posting...

Well, I suppose when people start telling you what you can and cannot post, you can do the same.

just ignore what you don't want to look at, its an inconvenience when one page is filled with images from one person, but it takes less time to click NEXT than to write a complaint letter

And, Fran, sorry, not 1 page, pages, like 6, 7, 8, even 10!

That's exactly what I hoped to get out of Gather. Constructive/corrective criticism. Being a novice at poetry, I really wanted/needed that.
My very first poem, I even mentioned that in my introduction, but all I got back was something like, "You won't get any criticim here, just encouragement...." or something similar. Can't remember the exact words. I was very surprised and disappointed, especially when I opened myself up to it.

Too, Ronald, some Gatherers have hundreds of connects-they couldn't possibly respond to all comments. I know I did, even with only a handful of connects.

I don't like pictures without a caption. That's my personal peeve.

You're right, Stacie-unless a pic can really speak for itself, it's hard to leave comments for ones with no captions. It's like you don't know "what to say."

When I first joined Gather I didn't know you could put captions on photos, but now I use that feature a lot.

I too hate when people post tons of photos in a short period of time. I tend to not comment on their photos when they do that. ESPECIALLY when it is of their kids or family pictures. I'm sure your kids and family are gorgeous, but honestly...I don't know them so I really don't care to see hundreds of pictures of them all in the same hour.

Anyways, sorry to get so long winded, people who flood the photo page is a pet peeve of mine as well. 3 or 4 pics, that's ok. When it starts to go in double or triple digits of the same subject...do a photo essay or space them out over a period of time.

Boy, after another night of umpteen images from the same source, I figured out a solution to this problem, which has become BIG for me! I'm just going to browse through MyPeoples' images, which means I'm going to have to do something, like...well, stay tuned to my next post...!

Yes. I agree. Meaningful shots are appreciated. Multiple pics of the same image is overkill. I'm not here for the points.

I'm new to this, and I see what you mean. It kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I think it is okay for anyone to put up any thing they want, that is what this place is about, if someone writes something and it is there , I leave a comment there, if they comment back on me, instead of leaving a comment with no points to them I will look and see if they have a picture I haven't seen before and give them a ten that way.
I put a lot of pictures up in July when they were doing the family picture contest thing, I did it for fun, and I never took them down, and I love to see other peoples' pictures, and if I don't want to look, I don't have too, so I say, I don't know how much is too much, nobody has to look or read anything they don't want to., A lot of people use this place as a show place for their photographs, so I guess if that is why they came, they will put them up. Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm not talking bunches, I'm talking hundreds. And, as I stated before, I'll just avoid this browse altogether.

I give up-maybe it's the holidays, but I'm in no mood for antagonists, or just simply inconsiderate people!!!

Mari, I agree with Elsie - I just ignore it if there are too many. People do what they want, and I value the freedom more than the possible improvement due to censorship...

Mari, we each bring to Gather what we want to get from Gather.....I agree with Elsie and Cristina....if it bothers you so much, just don't look at them or comment....

I really don't think anyone is catching my drift, and, no Sonia, I don't bother to comment. But, as I stated before I will avoid the whole thing by just browsing MyPeople's images.
