The votes were cast and the request made to see more of the School House in Heritage Park here in Michigan.
How could I refuse a chance to take more photographs for my pleading Gather public? lol
This first shot is of the back of the building. Nothing special but I do like the vent near the top!
This is the sign that you would read just before walking up to the School House.
Another angle shot of the side wheelchair ramp that lets you see into the windows of the School House of a time gone by.
This is posted on the side right by the handicap ramp.
Peering in a window you can see a small sailboat and some tabletops. the other side window is clearly visible to show you the depth of the room.
This view is looking through the side door of the School House. "Reminds me of the Little House On The Prairie TV series!"
This would be the North West corner of the building.
I didn't realize that there was a working water pump on the front lawn until I traveled to the front of the building!~
The front view of the School House as seen up close and personal!
Notice the "Taylor Heritage School" painted just over the front door!
This is the view through the right front window. The window is a doubled pained window so you get to see my reflection plus all the goodies inside!~
This is the South west corner of the building!
As always, Mallard ducks are ever present at the park! The male Mallard ducks are the most colorful ones!
(sorry ladies)
This would be the south side window. The little boy is just a dummy (can't teach him anything! lol) and will never move.
Another look at the Water Wheel House from the front lawn of the School House.
This last photo is of the South East corner of the School House.
I was granted perfect weather conditions for this photo essay as well. (Thanks God!)
I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past photo story! I had fun making it!~

In the early years of the 20th century those who metriculated from one-room school houses after 8 years of study were hired for open positions in their communites or were qualified for apprenticeships in any number of occupations that were relevant in their day. All eighth-grade graduates could read and write well, cipher, and had a strong grasp of history and civics. A recent study revealed that when a group of college graduates were administered final examinations that once had been given to eighth-grade students in the early 20th century, none of today's students could pass the exams. Yes, the little red school house is a thing of the past. But we might think seriously about making the student/teacher ratio once employed in the little red school house a thing of the future as well.

U wishing you laughter

Brilliant photo essay.

God Bless
Those desks were like the ones in my grade school ink wells
and all!! In most bird species the male is always much more
colorful than the females. The Cardinal for instance, he is so
brilliant red and she is dull drab pinkish look. And birds, most
birds mate for life as the mouring dove when it's mate dies
it will never take another mate just mourns for the lost one.

P.S. I noticed an average of 9.9 on your ratings. I have seen much worse photographic depictions receive tens and can't imagine why anyone would give you less than a ten for this essay. I guess there is always someone having a bad day.
thanks for this photo essay....brings back a lot of memories. I attended a one room school house, with no running water and only outdoor bathrooms until I was 12. We had a coal burning stove in the front and in the winter we would all put our wet mittens on there to dry....it always smelled like wet wool! A hot lunch meant putting your sandwich on the stove to warm up.
there was a "girl's cloakroom" and a "boy's cloakroom" My, times have changed.
The school I attended is still standing but is now a garage and storage shed, however, I went back several years ago to see it, and the blackboard was still there along with some of the desks.
However, I do have a wonderful momento from my school.....years ago my sister bought the big old ceramic water cooler and gave it to me. It is sitting in my kitchen to this day!
again, thanks for a wonderful photo essay~
