In North American Indian lore, the dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change, representing the messages of wisdom and enlightenment, and communication from the elemental world. They bring prosperity and harmony. The dragonfly brings color and light of transformation into your life. They symbolize Illusion and dreams. Its considered bad luck to kill a dragonfly
Dragonflies inhabits two worlds water and air, Some people who have the dragonfly as their totem have had emotional and unbalanced early years, but as they get older achieve balance with mental clarity and control over their lives.
When Hiking yesterday i came across a woonderful little dragonfly. I really enjoyed my time with him and though I'd share some of the pictures he allowed me to take of him. We named him Bob, A favorite name my kids have always gave strange animals, and bugs for some unknown reason.
This is bob when I first came across him. I was so excited I could hardly hold the camera still. I wanted to snap a photo before it was off on his way.

Little did I know Bob would be willing to pose for several photos, what a cool little insect! and what a face on him. My hand was still a bit shaky with this one.

What beautiful wings he has!

Smile for the camera Bob. I sware I think hes smiling here..

Wave to everyone out there in GatherLand Bob your now a star!!

I had Bob on a stem taking him to show him off to my group and he though it would be better to ride on me. A bit less bumpy I'm guessing or maybe he liked the bright orange color.

Another close up of his face.

We had a good long walk to catch up with the others. But when we did one of the members said its a good thing I dont pin insects anymore (my 4-H group did it as a project for years) I sware I think Bob understood what she said and he flew off to a near by tree out of her reach. They sure got a laugh out of that!!

Bye Bob!! What a cool Dragonfly.

Have you ever watched the movie, Dragonfly? I would suggest it.
Tell me how you put the pics in your story, please!
I posted today and just couldn't get them anywhere but
up in the corner by the story.
The article was written by a Gather member with the first name of Alexia; she had chosen 10 'original' articles and had rated them from 1 to 10. Yours was among them.
Great photo essay!
