You know that commercial for the Royal Caribbean Cruises? The one that shows people rock climbing and just having lots of fun? Well, for years, it has been annoying me to no end that I can not understand their little tag line. It goes something like "La la la!" "Just Go Drive!"?? "Just Go Dive!"?? None of it made sense to me! So, yesterday, when I saw the commercial I thought to myself, "It's time to stop this madness!" and, I called the number on the screen. The phone operator seemed a little confused when I asked him to please tell me what that theme song was saying, but he obliged and told me that the title of the song was...................................(drumroll).........................................
"Lust For Life!!!"
There, now I can go on with my life!

I thought that Iggy Pop song was well known. It has been used in a number of commercials and movie soundtracks.
Its the title cut of an otherwise forgettable album from the late 70's.
A punk song from the 70's about liquor and drugs is something that baby boomers would recognize. It just like Dennis Hopper selling retirement planning or Led Zepplin songs on Cadillac commercials.
Really though, isn't it weird what can drive you crazy? Literally, no one I asked knew what they were saying on that commercial, my parents, my sister, my son. It is a big relief now to know.
Has anyone else had anything like that just drive them batty?
I had never heard that "Lust for Life" song before and had no idea it was sung by Iggy Pop. I don't really know who that is, either. I would assume that anyone who is interested in taking a cruise would be Royal Carribean's target audience. I think they just liked the "Lust For Life" tagline and weren't trying to go for people who liked the song in the 70's
