What Happened to this Poor Squirrel?

This poor squirrel showed up in the backyard and I couldn't believe my eyes! He looked like he'd been half shaved and not well at that! His tail was lacking most of it's fur. The poor little guy was very timid but I managed to feed hom a few peanuts and get some pics. What do you think happened to this squirrel to make him look

I suppose we will never know! But the good news is he's recovering from whatever happened to him. He showed up for more peanuts today so I know he's doing alright!
