I really do like squirrels, but not when they empty my bird feeders in a mere matter of minutes. I've tried everything and the intelligent critters have managed to outsmart me every time - even getting around "squirrel-proof" bafflfes. I finally decided to plunk down a chunk of change and buy a Droll Yankee Squirrel-Proof feeder. I cringed at the cost, but I figured if it worked, the cost would be more than made up for by the saved cost of seed. I've had the feeder for almost four months and so far the squirrels have been very frustrated. They have also kept me very entertained with their antics trying to get at the seed. I bought the Yankee Tipper, which has a seed tray attached by a cable and it gives way under the weight of the squirrel and then springs right back when the squirrel lets go.
For some great entertainment, particularyly if you like to watch squirrel antics, check out the four videos on the bottom right of Droll Yankees home page (www.drollyankees.com). Yes, they are videos advertising their products, but watching the squirrels trying to get into their feeders is bound to make anyone laugh.
