For those of you who don't know, Megavideo is a website, very similar to Youtube or other video sharing sites, and you can upload and watch content on it. The difference between those sites and Megavideo? Megavideo requires you to purchase a membership in order to watch unlimited video, and upload content of your own. And it costs a lot...
With the economy being the way that it is, there's no way for me to become a member; it's just not in my reach at the moment. In fact, it doesn't matter what state the economy is in; I could never afford a membership with their ridiculous prices.
Last year (I know this is going to sound off-topic, but believe me, there is a point), an animated film was released in Japan by the name of "Bleach: Fade to Black, I Call Your Name." I'm normally not a fan of Japanese manga and anime, but every so often, one will come along that I really enjoy, and Bleach is one of them.
However, these films don't come out on DVD until almost a full year after their theatrical release, and because of it, there is no way for those of us living in the U.S. to see them.
Luckily, as soon as they do come out on DVD, someone posts the film with English subtitles to Megavideo, and though watching it isn't exactly legal, it's a whole heck of a lot better than waiting three years for the English release. Besides, this film is a year old now, and so whatever money that was to be made from it has been made by this point.
So, I went to Megavideo today to watch it, and I was really looking forward to it too. Megavideo decided that it need 30 minutes just to buffer 20 minutes, and so I was wandering around all day, looking for something better to do while I waited.
Once it finally finished, I sat down to watch it. Now, I mentioned earlier that you have to be a member to watch unlimited video; what this means is that Megavideo puts a 62 minute time limit on the video you watch. I knew this going into the film.
What I did not know however, was that the time it takes to buffer the video, is included in the time limit, meaning that I only got 23 minutes into the film before receiving this message: You have watched 62 minutes of video today; Please wait 54 minutes to continue watching, or click here for unlimited access!
Wow; I really dislike Megavideo.
This wouldn't even be that big a deal, if as soon as that message appeared, you waited the time limit, and just continued watching from where you were. The thing that really makes this worth ranting about, is the fact that you have to wait the time, then refresh the page, and buffer the video all over again!!! It's ridiculous!!!
Sorry if my ranting has annoyed you; but I myself feel rather annoyed at the moment....

I can see why it would be appealing, I just wouldn't want to pay the price of a membership.
