Today is the official launch of Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows 7, which many consumers are hoping will wash the bad taste of Vista right out of their mouth. After all, it's supposed to have been the Vista that Vista wasn't; some are even going as far as to say that this is the best Windows flavor to date.
I was one of those people who decided not to upgrade to Vista. It just seemed like a hassle, and since I'd been using XP almost all of my life, I figured that I should go with something familiar.
Sadly though, it costs money just to downgrade from Vista, and I didn't want to sped the extra dough; that's why I go my little Acer Aspire One, which is what I'm writing this on right now. I really do love this machine, but I'm into video editing, and the Intel Atom processor wasn't exactly made for multimedia creation. It'll sometimes take me a full twenty minutes to render a minute long video.
I've been wanting to upgrade to a better PC, but I didn't want Vista. So I held off. Now that it's out though, I've got my eyes on a couple of desktops out on the market; particularly a Gatewat with an Intel Core 2 Quad (a dream come true).
And, with the offer that's going through January, I can upgrade to 7, free of charge. For once, I'm actually excited about a Windows OS again.
What about you? Will you be upgrading?

Win7 by all reports is more resourceful and stable than Vista and has a tailored Virtual XP environment that sounds neat. I am waiting for Office 2010 & Win7 when I actually need a new PC. My systems usually last about 5 to 7 years before giving up the ghost, and I won't necessarily buy off the shelf.
Do you know of another upgrade deal? I sure would love to ditch Vista.
I bought a new lapper in September and will be getting the Windows 7 upgrade for free too and am going to give it a shot. I do however have other PCs running XP because I have programs that just were not compatible with Vista mainly Adobe programs and some photo editing programs. I will also keep at least one PC running Vista until I am sure I am satisfied with Windows 7.
I'll stick with my XP on this PC
this laptop of course came with Vista...I've had no real problems but probably by the time I got it they had gotten most of the bugs worked out
Mac OS X Tiger suits me just fine.
