Well, I have to admit, I have never seen the show, so I don't know how good of a job they did of adapting this (though there are obvious differences just by comparing the trailer to pictures of the show), so don't get mad at me if you were a fan. I just went into this as I do every other movie that comes out.
I have to admit that I was kind of dreading this film. My little brothers like to watch Nickelodeon, which has the worst TV spots for movies, and I saw one for this that convinced me that I wasn't going to see it. I was that afraid of how bad it would be.
However, I was pleasantly surprised, as this was a rather fun film. A lot of fun actually. I remember saying in my Star Trek review that it was the most fun I'd had at the theaters in a while. Well, this might have beaten it.
Is this a stupid film? Yes. It makes very little sense, you don't really get to know too many of the characters (though there are some who you do), and the script was probably a short one.
But the action scenes are great, and they really make this film quite enjoyable, as there's a lot of them.
Now, this one might be a good one for DVD, because when you watch it in a theater, you kind of begin to notice how cheesy some of the special effects are in this film, but there're all passable.
This is a film that I would not recommend watching twice though. I know that I'm not going to. While it's loads of fun the first time, before you know it, you're looking at every little flaw, and it ruins the vision that you had of the film after the first viewing. I suggest that you preserve those feelings, and watch it once.
