Okay, before I start the review, just let me say that I went into this film with pretty low expectations. I wasn't expecting much out of this film, and I didn't get much.
But here's the problem. The reviews for this film were awful. People were just panning this thing left and right, those who actually saw it in cinemas.
Their reasoning?
The general reaction was that this was a dumb action flick with an awful story that made little to no sense.
So, my question is, why are so many people giving Transformers 2 a pass, but not this????
I mean, I actually enjoyed myself with this. Though the plot wasn't the most original, it was decent, and contrary to most reviews, it all made perfect sense in my head.
The acting in this isn't what you would consider to be good, but it's at least passable, and it does have a pretty cool villain, though his motives are a little shaky at best.
The action in here is pretty cool, and the pacing is nice and even, so that it's not just one big blow up in our face. We're actually worried about what's going to happen, and how they're going to get out of it. We're not just thinking: "WHOAH!!! DID YOU SEE THAT EXPLOSION???? THAT WAS AWESOME!!!"
Here's the bottom line. This is the pure definition of a popcorn movie. Right down to the T. This is something that you don't think to hard about, and you just sit back, and enjoy the hour and a half long thrill ride.
Transformers on the other hand makes no sense, has stupid characters, made mostly because of poor character development, and the only redeeming quality of it is indeed the action.
Seriously guys, give 12 Rounds a chance.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
None. Either this bombed so badly that they didn't even bother with the extras, or they're planning some big special edition.
