I have always thought that this was a really interesting question, which could give you insight into a person's character. Unfortunetly, as those who are (over @ "that place") might know not alot of people answer it. I really love to see people's answers and their reasons for why they would want to be that person. So I really hope alot of you will participate. Here are "the rules":
1. You can be a fictional or non-fictional person, if it is a real person they can be alive or dead
2. If you are a man you can pick a woman (or vice-versa)
3. You can be a cartoon character if that is who you would wish to be.
4. So, this is pretty much a free form thing. The only thing I ask you to do is name the character, the source you got the character from (Scarlett O'Hara, Gone With The Wind, book and movie) and two or three sentences telling other people why you would want to be this character.
There have been several women I have identified strongly with from books, movies and television. When I was a kid I wanted to be Cinnamon Carter from Mission Impossible (TV show), Vicki Anderson from The Thomas Crown Affair (movie), Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With The Wind (book and movie) and Mrs. Emma Peel (TV Series, "The Avengers" some of you may have already picked up on this one!). Not all at the same time of course. The reason I have identified so strongly with all of these female characters is simply put because they are all very strong and beautiful women in their own way. They all know how to handle themselves in a situation whether it be through intelligence, problem solving techniques, wiles or some just plain @ss kicking. So I would say their defining characteristics are intelligence, wittiness, beauty, cunning and the ability to overcome obstacles. Additionally in Mrs. Peels case she can kick @ss with the best of them. I REALLY wanted to be her!
So now you tell me who you would be if you could be anyone and why. I really want to hear your answers and look forward to reading some interesting things in this thread. Please don't let me down.

Now, movies/tv, it's sometimes difficult to relate to alot of the women in those mediums. Diane Keaton's character in "Something's Got to Give"...her sense of re-discovering herself...I could see some of that in me. But who would I want to be...Tina Turner ("What's Love got to Do with It"), for overcoming...everything!!! Grace Adler (Will and Grace)...funny, hip, but flawed. For books...a cross between J.D. Robb's (Nora Roberts) Eve Dallas, Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone, and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum...accomplished women all, but lots of layers. And of course, what makes all 3 of these mystery she-roes compelling to me, is the time-frame they move in. Eve is in the future...very tech savy. Kinsey is somewhere in the '80's (still uses a manual typewriter, with ribbon, yet!), and Stephanie is fairly contemporary. So I see it as me, past, present, and future.

The other is any character from Lost Souls. Fabulous book.
Pardon the delay getting back to commenting. We've had a string of bad weather that has had us evacuating and offline. I'm doing my best to get back to you all before the promo ends - bear with me!
because she got to help him over come the bad guys and was still alive at the end for a cup of coffee, but she did have one really stupid line:"just fly the plane"
her name is on the tip of my brain, but evidently my brain is too large to reach the tip right now
I love the Firefly stories. Kaylee is just too bright and sunny for me and River has been tortured. River is a puzzle. I would rather be Zoey and have some authority.
Not even the captain bosses Zoey around much.
I would also like to be Martha Kent. Being Superman's mom would be cool.
no idea why
other than that, I would just like to be myself before I got ALS, which robbed me of my speech, and confined me forever to a wheelchair [and will kill me before my time] I didn't appreciate my health when I had it.
Or, as all men would say, "Bond, James Bond. . ." (And I am thinking Sean Connery rather than Pierce Brosnan.)
Why not, he has the biggest and baddest ride in the universe, gets to kick arse, even beat the Gorn in brain 2 brain combat and all the other perks of being the "captain"
He's like James Bond except he's bopping around the universe
Dr.Who.....what can i say, he travels here and there in the phone booth.
Officer Jim Chee from Tony Hillerman"s Navajo mystery detective novels.......again i just like the character.
Blessings and best wishes on July, 4th - Sveta
because he's just like me...but actually got his shot at Taking Out The Big Guy.
and WON.
no superpowers included--him, his hostility, and a knife.
This is easy she was a strong woman, who could wear that outfit. I really like the actresses. Dame Diana Rigg is a great actress and her daughter is following in her footsteps.
Green Lantern from DC Comics, because his power was basically limited only by his imagination. Plus, his day job was test pilot, can't be bad.
Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because he cared deeply about the fight against evil, he played a nurturing role in the incredible gang of Scoobies, and he could wield a weapon when necessary.
John Lennon while in the Beatles, because he played guitar and people loved to listen, and because Paul was around to take the rough edge off his music.
Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks, because he is logical, spiritual, respected, and vulnerable by reason of his sentiments. Also, he takes great pleasure in the simple joys of life: black coffee and cherry pie!
Not anyone in particular just a very good person of service to the world. Long term goal.
When I wanted to be someone else I was a llittle girl. That has not occured since I became 11. Once reaching 11 decided being a girl was all good. Boys had it harder than us I thought.
I did know a boy at school I wanted to be.. he became a famous baseball player and he was very good as a kid and I wanted to be him then and I am not going to say who he is but I am pleased he did become that as grown man.
Oh I loved old disney movies and though Kurt Russel was the perfect boy when I saw them. He amuses still. Last seen in Stargate.
Oh I like to fantasize I am related to Richard Dean Anderson of Stargate tv show...because our family name was spelled wrong.. they turned Andersen into Anderson.
I don't know if I answered your question. Latest hero is John Adams. Oh and I have lots of native american heroes.. and a few around Gather too.. won't say who they are now though.
Was this what you wanted Chana?
Blessings,
Isis
dale cooper.. oh my.. what a great guy and I live in twin peaks country.. it is just forty five minutes from here and is called in reality North Bend, Washington. I think they really did have pie at that restaurant out there. Yes.. oh the actor who played him is from Yakima, Washington on the east side of the Cascades!
Giles from Buffy is great!!!
But.. now you really reminded me of who I admire a lot and wanted to be when i was a kid.. Chuck Yeagar. Loved the guy who played him in the Right Stuff too .. one of my favorite movies.
Yes, I want to be Chuck! how about that Chana?
Cheers,
Isis

SUPERMAN
I'd be able to know, at a glance, which ladies had
fancy undies on & which ones weren't wearing any!
The person who played Chuck Yeagar, he is also an interesting character in his own right (or should I say write). His name is Sam Shepard. He is IMHO a great actor and playwright/author. If you are interested in learning more about him you can read a Wikipaedia article about here
.
Sam.. wonderful. Did you ever see Thunderheart? You have to if not. I will go and read about Sam. Thanks.
My problem is that I have never wanted to be anybody but me after the age of 11 and up to that point I wanted to be a boy! I was a tomboy. I wanted to be a heroic boy.
once puberty hit I was glad I was a girl.
Blessings,
Isis
Beautiful, powerful, dark, evil, good, watchful, erotic and chronicler of a place and events that are magical.

I would be Arthur from the movie Arthur.
Or someone from an Agatha Christie novel...well except for the person that dies.
I'd be Fred Sanford.
OK...so Joy is Grady and Lori is Lamont.
Monkey as Gloria....she was hot.
Joy as the little kid that I cant remember the name but came on the show at the end.
sharon as Mrs Jefferson.
Lori's Mrs. Howell . . .
Joseph . . . GOTTA be Gilligan
Nippy = C Thurston Howell III
