Discussion Topic: Discerning God's Will

Take it one day at a time, and listen for his voice. If you are doing something that is not right, you will feel the deep convictions. If there's something he really wants you to do, he will lay it on your heart, and you will not be able to ignore it. It's like he hammers it into you over and over again, and you don't know where the passion came from.

It's amazing the way God will speak to you if you are in a close relationship with him. The more you model your footsteps in those of Jesus, and the more you meditate upon his word and stay fervently in prayer with him (even in conversations with other people, silently praying), the more you will know where he is leading you. Just be patient - God tells you want you need to know, sometimes through others, sometimes spiritually, in HIS time!

The last sentence of the second paragraph, I meant to put "what" not "want" :) OOPS!

Thanks for your comments... I think it's really hard sometimes to figure out what He wants... You feel a leading but then you think that it might have been just you or you feel like He's trying to tell you something and then you think no it wasn't Him. It's hard to know what is and isn't God... We are awfully dense as humans...

I participated in a small group study at my Church (once as a participant and once as a facilitator) of a book called Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God. It was an awesome experience.

I've heard of that before Shannon, but never actually done it.

I have learned the hard way, to take life one day at a time. God created us to be happy people and for so many years I was unhappy. I hated myself and berated myself for things that happened in the past. I have learned over the past couple of years, that I was not made to be unhappy. God put people in my life as well as strength He gave to slowly unlearn the past mislessons. Think about life, read all you can, write a journal, learn to look for the good things in life because you are a perfect creation of God and He loves you very much.

Fill yourself with the things that give you joy. Music, for me loud 60's 70's 80's music.
Read what you like. Be with the people that care for you, not the takers. Lastly figure out how to be kind. Really kind. The rest will follow. The decisions get easier. Be good to yourself.

Observe the Golden Rule (treating all others as you would want to be treated by them).

Live in the moment (let bygones be bygones and let the cares of tomorrow wait until this day is done).

Do as you will. (His divinity lives within us. If we observe the one simple rule, live for today and follow our hearts we cannot go wrong.)
