God is Good but I'm Not

Dear Heavenly Father,

I just came to the magnificent realization that I really do belong o you. Maybe I should say that I finally surrendered in the fight against you for control of my mind, spirit, and specifically my body. I was reading that book, "every Man's Battle" that my friend Rick suggested for me, and it finally hit me. There is a reference in there that suggested a memory verse to use as a shield against staring too long; 1 Corinthians 6:18-21 - 18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. 19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

After all this argueing that we have done God I finally admit that my body is your property because you paid the price for it on the cross, heck you even created it. So if I sin against my body through sexual immorality, even just letting my eyes wander, gaze, or stare I am defiling you temple and casting you out of your own place. This will definitely help me stay strong in this battle. Thank you so much Lord for your correction.

Yeah I guess it took me a long time to really view lust as a sin. I think every guy out there feels like he has the right to rob women of their diginity as they fantasize about them, looking them up and down. It has been scientifically proven that men recieve a high from this, it's called endorphins. So I really view it as a drug abuse problem in a way. More men should realize that this is Santan's way of controlling them through their eyes and their minds. I have also gained a new found apreciation for women and learned so much from that book "every Man's Battle". If you starve your eyes of lustfull images then you also starve you mind, and for all those writers out their both men and women, I promise you that it will help you think clearer and have more creative freedom if you exhibit self control in this area. God loves you and wants you to succeed, it may be hard, but he is there for you.

Does anyone else reading this struggle with this problem of sexual immorality, extra strong sexual apetite, sexual addiction, impure thoughts, affairs, pornography, or cassual sex, or have someone close to them who does or has?

How do you deal with it?

I am actually thinking of starting a support group on Gather on this subject now that I have overcome alot of thse captivating problems.

Ephesians 5:3-4

3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

It is better to just rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ and our death of the old nature on that cross with Him than to 'exercise self control"As we mature in the gospel we rest more and more on what HE has done in us. We can talk about that Virgil
