The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) provides a way to handle overwhelm. Overwhelm is a form of stress we feel when we have too much happening, too much to do, too much on our mind, and feel we can't cope.
EFT is form of 'emotional acupressure' that uses gentle tapping with the finger tips on points on the body to clear emotional issues. The basics of EFT are easy to learn and self apply. More advanced issues, such as those you would see a counselor or therapist for, benefit from working with a skilled EFT practitioner.
It is difficult to use you mind to solve issues when you are overwhelmed. Applying EFT first to the overwhelm allows you to then think clearly to handle all the issues at hand. Using two or three fingers on each hand continue tapping on the points shown in this tapping points guide and while saying the following phrases:
Karate Chop Point: "Even though I'm feeling overwhelmed right now, I accept how I feel. Even though I have too much to do and to many things demanding my attention, I choose to take this moment to focus and relax. Even though I must get all this done, I deeply and completely accept myself in this moment."
Head: Too much to do
Eyebrows: Too much on my mind
Side of eyes: So much noise
Under eyes: Too many things to do
Under nose: Too much to remember
Chin: No way to get everything done
Collarbones: Not enough of me to go around
Under arms: How am I supposed to cope?
Wrist points: Still feeling overwhelm. I choose feel relaxed and focused.
You may need to repeat the above sequence a couple of times until you feel the overwhelm subside.
Once you do, then it's time to apply some thinking to appease the situation. Asking some great questions will put things into perspective:
- What am I uncertain about with this?
- How can I break this down to smaller actions?
- How urgent does this need to be?
- How can I figure how long this will take; or what is a rough guess of the time this will take?
Quantifying things in this will usually help you feel in control again. A good time management system such as the well known Getting Things Done can help keep that overwhelm gone for good.
Remember use the Emotional Freedom Technique first then use your thinking skills.

Follow the "pressure" theme and then tie in more of what to do with these pressure points. If you can give a reader more specifics that they will notice, they will then be more encouraged to seek out a professional.
The more personal you can create the issues and the possibilities, the more people you can encourage to understand what you are trying to accomplish by encouraging them to help themselves.
Good job.
When I'm in his presence now I keep silently repeating "I love and accept myself completely and deeply exactly as I am" while setting on "automatic" a visualization of myself doing the tappings.
