I agree and often do an exercise where I send my love to all creatures near and far and then around the earth. I also make a practice of sending love to the most down trodden that I meet while moving about town.

Priscilla, I've heard some awesome stories about people who send energy to those they "meet in the streets." Just think what changes you are probably making and don't even know about! Very cool.

One thing that happened after my attunement was that I was sleeping next to my husband with one of my arms around him. That hand activated without any consious thought on my end. It kind of freaked me out, so I asked my teacher if that happens often. She said it can. Since then, I've noticed my hands will activate when I walk by certain people, even they don't look like anything is wrong. So, now, I send my intention with it when that happens. It's certainly an awesome gift to us and it sure teaches you to not rely so much on outward appearances. I think the more of us there are, the better life in this crazy world will be!

Hi - I've got Reiki II but very seldom practice it. Yet I feel the reiki energy kick in every now and then. Earlier this year I studied, and passed (with putting in a lot of hours) Counselling skills and Theory course. I did the course so that, before I became a practitioner, I would be able to deal with any issues that reiki may bring out with a client. Yet I find myself drawn towards wanting to do counselling full time. I can't afford it. You need a diploma level to practice. Yet since doing the course I've been inundated with friends and strangers telling me their worries and concerns. Is my reiki perhaps being used in a different way to which I had intended it? I sometimes feel drained when a friend who's going through a particularly bad patch has told me all about their problems. But I'm learning not to take their issues on myself and accept that by listening I have helped. It's so difficult to do that at times. I would like to become a Reiki Master and whilst on holiday in Tenerife last month met a reiki master, purely by chance, that I immediately felt drawn to. I am hoping to go back next year to study and get my attunements from her. Reiki is with us and it's the intent that makes it work I believe.

Your journey in Reiki is identical to my own, except when I start having someone pour out their troubles to me, I protect myself by using some of the methods to make them take responsibility. I gently ask them what they are going to do to change things, rather than just letting them spill out a bunch of poison on me. Also, if it's a situation I know will drag me down, I'll silently use intention Reiki, which seems to help us both.

I don't know where Tenerife is? But, if you can afford a vacation, why couldn't you afford to go to school? I want to go to school, too, and am trying to get my life in order to do so, but I haven't had a vacation in over 10 years cause I can't afford to take off work for that long and can't afford the travel expenses. I did go back to get my associates, though. It took a lot of sacrifice and HARD work on my part because I had to keep working the whole time too. I got lots of help from my friends and family, but there is so much that only the student can do. If it is important to you and if you truly feel drawn to counseling, why not sit down and start making lists of your priorities, your income/outgo, and your goals? Pretty soon, I bet you find that you ARE able to do what you want.

And, yup, I think (at least it does work this way for me) Reiki works through us. We don't work Reiki. I've had it start up without any intention on my part and when I asked my teacher, she said that will happen. I have never accepted money for it, though. I don't feel I can, no matter what other people tell me. I practice it only when the Universe takes me to someone who needs it and they request it, and only for free.
