Penni D.'s Paypal experience happened to me.

Then, I posted this comment about how someone had gotten into my checking account that's not tied to Paypal, and opened a new Paypal account in my husband's name using our other checking account. My husband saw a Paypal charge for $463. and asked me what I bought for that much. If it had been less like maybe $36. he wouldn't have even asked me.

So, we had to close the account and wait weeks to get our money back from Paypal, as the bank wasn't responsible. I don't want to close Paypal as I get my Gather money that way, but I think it may be necessary. I just changed my password again before reading Penni's account, but now I dont know. What do you think?

That stinks! I have not had any problems with them so far. Can you take it off your checking acct and add a prepaid paypal credit card? I am not sure if they have those for everyone but I got one for my son to take to college with him. I have two paypal accts. that way I can add money to one from my checking/savings and it will go to his card and one just for me.

I haven't h ad problems with Paypal, but I am not getting much payments from there, the account that my one paypal is attatched to never has much money in it, and thus I don't worry about it, my other account does not have a bank account but a credit card attatched to it...

Yet one more reason I don't like Pay pal (and haven't used it to cash out on Gather yet...and I've got over $500 sitting waiting for me because I don't want any screw ups, someone getting in my account or losing my Gather cash altogether). I wish Gather had never done away with mailing checks.

I hate, hate, hate Paypal. Paypal took me for over $1000.00 and over $500.00 to my bank for NSF fee's! They NEVER reimbursed me or took care of the problems.

I took advice from paypal, carol, and changed my password. They assured me my bank account could NOT be tapped, as i found the fraud within a minute and reported ASAP.....
The bank told me if they had my info from paypal, they could USE it..... alas, I was told this today, and not on Monday. The charges went through even tho paypal said they deleted... LIARS...... I will get refunded, but cash is tied up for how long? Bank had me close account for reasons of safty. They also said if I had e-mail that I did not intend to open, never store iy...delete, then DUMP trash. I did nOT know people could hack in that way. Good Luck on your account, dear. best thing to do would be close paypal, open a new, but ask for the handheld keycard. No one can use your account without it, and you have to have it in your possesion to use paypal...Wonder why they don't tell EVERYONE about that?
