My Ordeal With Dish Network

We had Prime Star until they sold out to Dish Network nearly nine years ago. We then had Dish Network. We still have the original Dish box and the buttons don't work on it. So we have to use the remote control. The remote only works part of the time.

I get so upset when I see ads for Dish Network. New customers can get a DVR, new box, remote control, satellite and installation for free. If we want or need a new box, we have to purchase it. We have to purchase a remote control as well. We have been with this company a long time now and it just seems that we are being penalized for being a loyal customer.

Today I called Dish Network to upgrade our plan to include the Sundance Channel. They explained that if I wanted to downgrade, there would be a cost involved. I told them that as soon as the trees were fully leafed out, I would be switching to Direct TV anyway. I told him why I would be switching. He said "Let me see what kind of deal is available that I can help you out with."

The deal was that I would pay so much for each of the items that I wanted except the new dish itself. I politely said "Let me tell you what I want and what it will take to keep me as a customer."

He said "OK"

I proceeded to tell him " I want a DVR, New Satellite Box, new remote control, new dish, FREE Installation. I want all this at no extra charge."

He said "Hold one moment please"

He came back and said I could have the DVR, Satellite Box, two remote controls and new dish. I only had to pay for installation.

I said "No I want all these for no charge.

"Hold one minute" he said

He came back and gave me everything that I wanted at no charge because I am a long standing loyal customer.

Why did I have to go to all this trouble to get these items? If I am such a valuable customer, why did they not approach me and offer to upgrade me?

The fact is that they don't care about their customers as individuals. They think of customers as dollar signs.
