As many of you know I am having a huge yard sale Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have been sooooo busy this past few days I did not have time to get together a money saving article. So please excuse this shortened and combined version of Saving for the Average Person and The Question of the Day!

Money Question of the Day:

If you had $1000 this weekend to spend on your mother, grandmother, aunt, wife or any other special lady in your life; what would you do with it? (If you have no women in your life get some!)

I would send flowers to a lady downstate and my favorite aunt...that's it. The other $900 gets put in my pocket to make up for the birthdays and Christmases she never even sent a card. Happy Mothers Day to me!

I would give it to my Mom to use however she wanted to use it. If she wouldn't take the cash then I would make her a reservation at a themed hotel she has been wanting to try for the weekend and gift certificates for food/restaurants in the area

I'd send enough to my mom and sister to come visit me and be here when I get married this month...unless they'd rather trek out to a hot springs here or day spa instead.

Well every year since my dad died, my mom, brothers, cousins & uncle go to my grandma's house and do work around her house. I would use the money to pay someone to do the work so that my mom & the rest of my family didn't have to do work on Mother's Day

I would have my wife and her two sisters go somewhere together for the day, without kids. The mall, an extended lunch, spa treatment, or whatever. They don't get much time together without tons of distractions.

I would get my mom a short vacation. Hotel room and admission to zoos and museums. ( OR maybe get my dad off of the farm for a few days - either way it'd be a vacation for her )

I would buy my mom this beautiful Alexandrite pendant / necklace I saw online that was on sale for $99. I would buy my grandmother a beautiful opal necklace that I also saw online for just a bit more. I would send $200 to my sis and $200 to my sis-in-law, Jess, just to go get pedicures and facials and perhaps a massage for the day. And I would give the other bit to my mom-in-law, I guess, since she seems to need money so badly. Unless I was allowed to keep any of it for myself (after I, I am my own favorite, special lady!) in which case I'd like to buy a new white gold necklace to replace the one from which my diamond journey necklace dangled just a few short months ago (it was a gift from my hubby for last Mother's Day).

How ironic - I had a surprise $1000 last weekend (actually $1200). My pension guaranty company paid me back some money they had been withholding waiting for a settlement. Which apparently they must have gotten.
As I am my favorite female - I paid up my property taxes, some past due bills, FILLED up my van, and bought myself a couple summer outfits (have had nothing new since I retired in 1999).
Did get some small things for my grandkids and daughters too!!!

My mom is 89 and is very well off. She is in fairly good health but does have trouble traveling any more. I would have to be honest and say, I would be selfish and take a much needed vacation. A mother's Day gift to me.....

I might take my mom away to a spa, but she is a tough one to get to relax and have fun. I bet she would feel guilty for leaving my step dad alone and be calling him all of the time. It would not really be fun for any of us. Sad. Maybe I would just send the two of them, but they go away all of the time.

Now that I think about it, she would probably appreciate it more if I just donated it to the animal shelter in her name.

I would take that $1000.00 and spend it on the two mothers that I know, my own mother and my daughter [who has three small sons]. I think that I would take them out to eat to a really elegant place to eat, like the Guild House here in town. I would make it a girls day only, just the three of us, me, my mom, and my daughter. After eating, perhaps a fun movie with popcorn and candy. Then off to the mall for some new clothes, some stuff from Bath & Body Works, maybe a new pair of shoes, a stop in the DVD store until every penny of that money was gone! Which as you know, $1000 really wouldn't go far at the mall!

I would buy 2 plane tickets to Tucson and surprise my Mom for Mother's Day.

My mother died in 1999, but were she alive and out of pain today; I would treat her to a complete spa and beauty experience. She used to love that sort of thing.

i am the only "mom' or female in my life,so i think it would be cool to locate 5 single moms in need to give dining + store GCs = $200 total each to make their day extra special...

I would take my mother out to eat wherever ahe wants to eat. Proberly somewhere that has either shrimp or steak. I would also get her a really nice gift card and also pay for her to have a pedicure of her toes and fingers. I have done this before but split it up with my younger sister and she really liked it alot

If my mom were still alive, I would take her anywhere she wanted to go. She loved to take little trips and travel a little. She never had the money to go far but even a day trip to sight see was very enjoyable to her. I miss her very much even though she has been gone for 14 years now.

I would spend it on my Mom, sisters, and daughters because my aunts, grandmas, and my mother-in-law are deceased.

I know it sounds a little weird, but, I would get my Mom an answering machine!!! She just got her phone fixed, but everytime I call her, she isn't home!!! For my middle sister, I would get her unlimited, free, calling to her son who is overseas,(Is there such a thing?) and for my baby sister, I would get her a whole day at a fancy spa because I think she works way too hard. Oh Gosh, I, almost forgot Rebecca!!! I would give my other daughter (not really, she just likes to call me, Mom) airline tickets to San Antonio, Texas so she can join me at my sister's big barbecue!!! To my oldest daughter, Stephanie, I would give her a collage of when she was my little baby. To my middle daughter, Ursula, I would buy her the best therapist money can buy, and to my baby, Natalie, I would get her a down payment on the laptop of her dreams!!!

I'll pay the difference if this amounts to over a $1000 dollars!!!!

I would put it all toward my mother's medical care that she has been doing without. She has diabetes and no insurance. She breaks her pills in half and only takes half what she is supposed to take to make them last longer.

first i would call the septic guy and have him come and pump her septic and check it out9don't laugh,it needs to be done) and then i would find some nice murder mystery books,some flowers and a nice card,then i would take the rest and buy her tons of ready made foods that she likes for her freezer,so she can just heat and eat,like Ness' mom, my mom is in her 80'sand just needs some tender loving care.

For my mother who is paralyzed on the left side as a result of a stroke, I would be able to get all of the few things in life that give her pleasure--flower bouquets, expensive moisturizing cream, lots of elegant body wash, slacks and shirts, an etagere to display her favorite things, soft cookies, a new watch.

My mom and grammy are both gone, sooooo... I would take the $1000 and take my 2 daughters and my grandkids to an all-inclusive dude ranch in NY state that I'm dying to go to! My granddaughter and I could ride and I think my daughters would just enjoy a weekend away. No cooking, no cleaning!
