I hope that President Obama has no hatred in his heart. If he resents George W. Bush, it would be an understandable emotional reaction under the circumstances.
There's been considerable debate of late over Bush/Cheney-era torture policies, and what, if anything, to do about them. Obama clearly wants no part of this, despite the importance of accountability, and despite the demands of the law.
I've been trying, however, to think about this from Obama's perspective. Bush left him with a generational economic crisis, an abysmal job market, a budget mess, a war in Iraq, a deteriorating war in Afghanistan, a nuclear-armed and unstable Pakistan, a nuclear-armed and nutty North Korea, a warming planet, a collapsing U.S. auto industry, an ineffective health care system, a massive debt, an absurd national energy framework, and a nation that has lost much of its global prestige. Can anyone deny the foregoing?
Ready to begin getting the nation back on track, the president is told, "Wait, before you tackle this to-do list, we have to deal with the consequences of the previous administration's alleged war crimes, too."
How dare anyone who is already attacking him. He has barely begun, and look at his burden. The country was in decent shape when Clinton left office, even with a monetary surplus. Bush practically destroyed this nation, and we must give President Obama time to put us on the right course.
Has anyone heard a peep from Bush since he left office? I wonder what his parents think about him.
Honestly now, are you and the nation better off after eight years of Bush? Let's give Obama a chance.

"""I defy anyone alive to do a better job than Obama's doing. """""
All he/she would have to do is veto the stimulus, omnibus bills and keep their campaign promises. Yeah I know.....you defy any politician to keep a promise, including the hope we have been waiting for. Give his broken promises a chance? Are you insane????
What changed? Wow, what a question.
Well, the world economy, starting with the American economy, got flushed down the toilet. Every economist breathing has agreed that massive (not large, but massive) government debt is required to prevent a complete economic collapse. Not a collapse such as we've already seen, but an apocalytpic collapse in which money itself becomes worthless, all trade grinds to a halt and banks everywhere disappear. All the major countries in the world are doing the same thing. Canada had a budget surplus but is looking at an $85 billion deficit, more than twice as high as we've ever had before.
What changed? Man oh man.
So hot are conservatives to cast aspersions on Obama that they completely overlook the fact that their guy and their policies destroyed the economy and Obama must now put aside the rule book and his own druthers and simply try to stop the whole thing from going down like a house of cards.
So far it looks like it just might work.
Liberals everywhere need to cut Obama some slack, give him the benefit of the doubt, stop jumping on him for doing too much or doing too little (both charges have been made) and give him room to do what must be done first. Conservatives are trying to commit character assassination on him and some of them would like to remove the word character from this sentence.
Really? I know that a lot of economists were opposed to it. Are you lying or exaggerating like Nancy Pelosi would?
""""So far it looks like it just might work.""""
Why because the economy is improving? Almost all of the "stimulus" money hasn't been spent yet! Maybe the "sky is falling" idiots were wrong Rory? Maybe? Not if the are liberals though right?

Amen to you Leo!!
What would be insane would be to reprimand someone for not finishing the dishes when the house is on fire. Get real! Unless he can bring the economy under control, the loss of tax revenue will make this deficit look like a bank overdraft.
But you already know that, don't you?
What is insane is waiting for all the horses to run out of the barn before you close the door!
But Leo's point stands- Obama inherited a situation in which balancing the budget was not a remotely realistic possibility.
Leo, I like your post other than using the word "hate". I realize that your post was stimulated by one that used the word "hate", but I would like to give that word a vacation.
What would be a better title? Help me.
it is tough for me to try to be fair on this one, because I am resentful as anyone of the right wing campaign.
Bad news, she has to go out into the world and get a job, and there are not many of those.....
Lots of families in mourning. So sad. I hadn't read about the deaths of even these 400 who don't agree.
Sad part is even tho Bush was IN office for 8 years .......nobody NOW wants to take 'credit' for his administration saying he was NO conservative. Back to the same old same old, just criticize everything President Obama does and keep blaming Clinton for EVERYTHING else! Trotting out the same old suspects that were tossed OUT of the GOP before but see an opening to stick their noses back into the void that is the GOP!
Obama shouldn't hate Bush, it was his policies that enabled Obama to have a foundation for his spendathon and government takeovers of various parts of the economy. Not to mention the only way a man like Obama could have gotten elected was by having no record of success or experience to a public weary of years of political infighting.
