A mother watching her two year old daughter playing in her front yard saw two pit bulls charging the child. The woman ran, and lifted the toddler above her head, as the pit bulls attacked. The got a small bite of the child as they ripped at the mother's leg. Then, a third pit bull came into the mix. The mother was sure the dogs would kill the child and maybe herself, but as any mother would she fought the dogs off with her legs while keeping the child high. A neighbor heard the woman's screams and came to the rescue with a rake, and a police officer finally arrived.
I saw the dogs in custody, and it is so sad. They were shaking and terrified. These dogs are not to be in neighborhoods, and I don't care what people say, they should be banned.
Mother and child are doing well. Thank God, the neighbor, and the police. Two of the neighbors have agreed to have their dogs put down, and one is going to fight it out in court.

Why weren't the animals penned/chained? I hate it when owners don't control their own dogs. Is anyone putting the owners down, too? I would hold them as much or more responsible than the poor dogs...
The dogs bit and attacked. They all need to be put down...stupid owners.....what were they doing and where were they when this all went down?
I don't think you should ban the breed. But I do think stricter control needs to be enforced in order to get these type of dogs out of the criminal and stupid owners hands. I have no clue how to do it.
I blame the owners. It sounds as if they were poorly raised, or raised to fight. They should have been leashed, tethered, or fenced in, and the owner(s) should be able to control their animals--no matter what size breed--because any dog could potentially attack.
But something went horribly wrong at an Oshawa home Tuesday and now a three-year-old girl is facing the possibility of having plastic surgery.
Police say the youngster was being cared for by neighbours at 506 Lanlark Drive just after 1pm, and was petting a normally friendly Golden Retriever.
Cops aren't sure what provoked the animal, but it suddenly turned on the child, mauling the tot from her eye to her cheek.
The toddler was rushed to Lakeridge Health Centre, where plastic surgeons began examining the damage. It's believed her eyesight will be O.K. but she may require surgical repairs to her cheek.
10-month-old daughter on the face, which required 4 stitches. The
beagle is definitely an Alpha personality. The incident occurred at
the dog's mealtime when my daughter was crawling near her food bowl,
although there was no food in the bowl at the time. (Hmm, 4 stitches from a lemon beagle!)
From this experience I learned the Beagle is one of the top ten dogs most likely to bite you. They are snappy little things. The Beagle does not, however, rate as one of most dangerous dogs because it's small statue and general lameness keep it from being a threat to anyone but small children. This is part of what makes them such a foul breed. They only attack the small and the weak because they aren't just mean, they are sneaky cowards.
(My comment--a 3" scar on the face from a beagle! Hmm, considering the size of a beagle that's a pretty bad bite.)
That is sad
