Republican Senators Vow To Fight Pork-Laden Stimulus Bill

WASHINGTON (SR) - Angry Republican senators vowed Thursday to put up a fight against President Barack Obama's economic stimulus bill after the package passed the House of Representatives with no opposition support.

In a briefing with several of his colleagues, Republican Senator Jon Kyl called the bill "a stinking, bloated, quivering pile of liberal pork."

Kyl outlined some of the "extras" in the Democrat's bill:

  • $144 million for a Che Guevara memorial in San Francisco.
  • $949 million for gay, bi, and transsexual oriented preschools.
  • $1.8 billion for ACORN.
  • $22 million for a PBS special "Obama: The First Two Weeks."
  • $437 million for the Chappaquiddick Kennedy Bridge.
  • $1.4 billion for inner city mobile family planning/abortion vehicles.
  • $545 million for the third world gay sensitivity series, "I Want To Bone Chico." 
  • $4.25 billion for assorted "green" things.
  • $776 million for a cartoon line of preteen condoms.

 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has promised to defend the bill, saying, "Every penny in that bill will go someplace, and that's what's important."

As long as pork can be added onto a bill we will have this trouble. Comic imprented condoms for pre-teens? Like that is going to stimulate the economy. It might stimulate some other things but cetianly not the economy. A PBS special on Obama, $545 million for the third world gay sensitivity series, and others, These things do nothing what so ever to help the economy. thats 6 Billion Kyl named pork and it looks as though he is right.

Is it fair to assume that most in these political positions are educated... it has been said that Obama was an intelligent Harvard graduate..... if this is true>>> how can they vote for this stupid stimulus package with all of this stupid waste in it? I think they all need some really intense background checks done on them... cause they had better go back and sue those expensive colleges and universities that they claim they attended or graduated from for the rest of their education....

Scooter, don't make fun of "Dingy" Harry. The country is depending on his leadership (cough ... chuckle ... cough) to save our economy. I expect that he and Tom Dodd, the Senate's financial expert, will burn the midnight oil to come up with "the plan" that will fix the banks, put America back to work, reduce taxes on the middle class, put a chicken in every pot, and two (American) cars in every garage.

And we're all behind you Harry! We're counting on you to win one for all of us.
