I was reading an article about how the British government is planning to keep track on current and former prisoners by implanting a microchip under the skin. They are getting a lot of criticism from civil rights groups on this move.
According to the article "In addition to monitoring incarcerated prisoners, the ministry hopes to use the chips on those who are on probation or other conditional release. By including a satellite uplink system in the chip, police would be able to use global positioning system (GPS) technology to track subjects' exact locations at all times. According to advocates of such a measure, this could help keep sex offenders away from "forbidden" zones like schools."
What is your opinion on this new way to keep tabs on those who need to be monitored. I think it would be a great way to keep kids safe from child molesters who are set free just to molest again.
Here is the link to the article. I personally think it is a much better option than just turning them loose and depending on probation officers to keep tabs on them. What do you think about this? Should it be used in the US as well?

This can also be useful for people who don't know abide by their probation, instead of them being on the run, they can be easily found. Should be helpful.
I think it's a great idea, but probably I have a different view point than everyone else.
First our pets, then the dead during the Katrina clean up, then suggested for alzeheimers patients here in the U.S., now prisoners, and talk of microchipping our children - reads like an instruction manual for getting society to accept the technology. In time, we may all have "reasons" to have one.
The AP a few months ago reported that the ones in pets were causing cancers, and tumors around the implant. They need more study. We must weigh that, too, when considering this. It's not like we're talking about something with zero risk.
That is coming whether you like it or not and regardless of the type of government we have and even regardless of whether the government does it or not. There are all sorts of other organizations in addition to the government that would like to keep tabs on you.
If you want to know what to do about it read Invisible Hand. It shows how we can have the security and comfort of high technology without losing our privacy (and with almost no government at all). Check it out while you still have some privacy.
According to the studying I have had in bible prophecy, - I do agree with Steve D! I believe this is a part of the New World Order!
To Rob Appell: On the surface I understand what you are saying and I too would cut the infernal thing out and attach it unbeknownst to a politicians backside. However,
if the chip can be inserted with a syringe it is probably too small to detect with the naked eye or touch. Even maybe it could be so small as to be injected into the blood stream, thereby allowing it to travel throughout the body and essentially undetectable to the carrier.
Hard to believe, isn't it. Well get ready folks, for it is drawing nigh. It's time for us to start reading the Holy Bible. You want to know what's going to happen next? Well it's there.
Thanks for the Post Connie
