I received the following invitation to a baby shower.
I want to be a bright child.
As smart as I can be.
That's why I am hoping
My Mom will read to me.
If you plan to bring a card,
Please take another look.
I would like to learn my A B C's
From your favorite storybook.
Please sign your name
As your personal touch.
Baby Liam thanks you
Beary, beary much!
Could you please help me by suggesting some great books?

O the places you will go
My own childhood favorite was Dr. Seuess's Alphabet book.
I also liked all the Dick and Jane stories, so much that I bought a copy when they were re-released a couple of years ago.
Ooh, another favorite of mine and great to read out loud is Mr. Gumpy's Outing.
"One fine morning Mr. Gumpy decides it's a perfect day for an outing in his little boat. Apparently, plenty of others think so, too. First some children ask to join him, then a rabbit, a cat, a dog, a pig, a sheep... Soon, Mr. Gumpy's boat is precariously full, and there's nowhere for anyone else to go--but overboard! This mild mariner takes everything in stride, though, and his guests are soon bellying up to a nice tea.
John Burningham earned the Kate Greenaway Medal, an ALA Notable Children's Book award, and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Mr. Gumpy's Outing, and it's no wonder. This gifted and highly original author-illustrator creates a vision of glorious summer with deeply textured, sometimes only suggested, drawings."
I saw the comment about getting a book with the child's name, you could do one of those personalized kid books, they have different character books you could choose.

I applaud this person's idea.
Reading is the key to knowledge. Today with so much internet and videos and such, it is hard to get a child to read. Of 7 grandchildren, I have one reader!!! A couple others really try because they know grandma wants them too - but just isn't their thing.
green eggs and ham
hop on pop
and that's really all i can remember lol.
