The Mysterious Disappearance of Gather Images

After sending system information in reply to Chuck's email, I thought I'd ask out loud: do Gather images ('photos' now) disappear when you point your browser their way?

As I told Chuck, I can open/enlarge an image only by clicking the Comments link underneath, but that means the image must have at least one comment for this work-around to...work.

If I open my photos/images page, all of them can disappear into cyberland simply by pointing them away and I'm left with zilch, a blank field. They may pop back - or not, but cannot be clicked because they play hide'n'seek! And so do everyone else's which makes viewing Y'all's visual content a quirky dilemma and I'm in quite a snit of miffdom over it.

So are you, lone reader, having similar image disappearance problems? Are gremlins behind this craziness (which began here immediately after a Gather upgrade several months ago)?

Here it's: pc, xp, ie7, sometimes firefox as my tools of mass disappearance. And it never occurs on any site but Gather, oddly enough.

And so the mystery continues...
