At the begining of December I tried to reach the cash option and get 3,000 points in one month... and let me tell you.. I failed with flying colors! I only got about 1200 points, no wear near close to the 3,000 thats needed. I took a break from gather, thinking that the points don't add up fast enough, So, I was gunna just delete my stuff and go on. I'm back. I couldn't just leave gather. I've realized that its not about the points anymore, I really like having everyone to talk to, and for advice, and all the fun stuff that gather has to offer. I'm not all about the points anymore, yeah, they are great and I love racking them up, but it wont be my primary reason for being here on gather. I like the people that I talk to through here.... so, thats that!

If it was all about the points I would have left a long time ago, because I accumulate points at a snails pace! ha ha ha
But it's such a great place to make new friends, an outlet for writing, and so much fun. I couldn't leave if I wanted to!!

I too was getting frustrated with the slow points especially when you spend [not kidding either] an average of six hours rating and reading and commenting and the points only raise about 5 points....very disheartening.
I was trying very hard for the 50 borders card to give to my hubby for Christmas and I never made it so I grew not only angry but depressed, then Gather started acting up and wouldn't let me write or comment on anything and I too just about said FORGET IT!
Then I realized that inspite of the negative things about Gather and those who promise to rate you if you rate them then don't, after you spend a whole day on just them and their posts......I realized it wasn't about the points....it was about conversing and laughing and having fun with my FRIENDS that I had made here....so I completely understand......and I'm very glad you stayed.
BTW: you live in the same area as my muse--how cool.

It is hard and can seem to be an uphill battle when you are trying to get to 3000. There was a point where I wasn't enjoying it anymore when I was trying to get there. Like you I paused and asked myself what I was really here for. It was for the community, not the boodle, so back I went. (Besides, there is always next month:)
