Ever have one of those days where you want to smack your head into a desk, but know it'd hurt way too much?
In the land of Myspace, I spent last night putting up new tour dates ... and today, while going through the comment screener, what's the most popular question of the day? "When will you be coming to / why aren't you coming to This Place?" ... where 'This Place' is one of the places where said band is doing two or three stops.
Incidentally, speaking of comments and mail -- would you write your band and tell them intimate secrets about your life that you wouldn't tell your mother? People do. It's scary.
And in Gather today, I got a mail from someone who was cranky because they (and one of their family members) had articles that were removed from Comment Speedway and demanded that I terminate their memberships. The point of Comment Speedway is to promote articles and images to help get reach ten comments, after which they get removed. It's listed in the 'about' section. It's listed in the 'description' section. It's listed at the beginning of every 'Help These Articles' and 'Help These Images' post. How can I make this more clear?
Considering I really have worse problems, this really isn't so bad - I just felt like ranting. Sorry!

HAVE A STAR SPANGLED FOURTH OF JULY!
If the person can't read the rules on comment speedway then it's on them. I personally think you are doing a wonderful job of the group and am honored to be part of it. So, keep up the good work!
I have about 200 articles sitting 'waiting for approval' in my moderated group... just can't be bothered dealing with the flood of nasty mail that I get when I dare to decline adding them .... wish it could be done 'silently'... i.e. no email to the submitter unless I actually indicate that I want one.
Honestly, at this point, I figure I'd be just as happy to delete the group...but the powers that be don't give us that power apparently!
Please vote for my short story
Don't be sorry for ranting, if it wasn't for ranting, I would be silent most of the time:)
And, c'mon folks admit it; we all love to rant.
Then again, that's a bigger mess than the problem, no?
maybe someday Gather will care that I have thousands of em LOL
probably not though... but oh well... they're not hurting anything, right?
I think I was upset the first time I saw one of my articles being deleted on comment speedway, it did not take me long to read the purpose of the group. Then I felt like a dork and seriously laughed my arse off.
Random note from myspace: Apparently one of the members of one of the bands owes someone a gong.
If only there was some way to put an additional message on the rejection notice, such as "Congratulations! Your article has now received 10 comments!"
(smile askew) That's why I don't post to moderated groups unless I pray about it first. : }
