What was supposed to be the happiest day for me was not even close in the end

Today was my graduation from Northern Essex Community College, with my Associates in Science Business Management. I am honestly happy that I graduated, I walked and all. But what has caused me to be unhappy is what the person who I call my best friend has done to me. He got my hopes up that he was coming to my graduation. Now some of you have seen me write about him before. He is the one known as Josh. He was the one about 2 years ago I traveled to Georgia to see him graduate from Basic Training from the Army. Which I bent over backwards to go see him graduate. I even gave up me receiving a Statistics award in person to go see him graduate. He had for the last month told me he rearranged his schedule to have this weekend off. He was going to come to my graduation and see my graduate. Now when I first told him about my graduation I knew he has weekend drills and lost track of his schedule, so I told him if he couldnt make it due to work or drills that was fine. But instead he promised me and told me he would come and had it off. I called him last night to get a hold of him to find out if he was coming down last night and stay in the guest room and go with the family in the morning, or if he was just going to show up in the morning either at my house or at my graduation. Well lets just say every time I tried to contact him all I got was his voice mail, both at his home and on his cell. I even tried texting him, no responses back.

Now the thing is I already knew my father and my brother would not be coming to my graduation. My dad lives out of state and informed me he was not going to make it. He still sent me a present via paypal, and a card in the mail, that arrived when I got home from graduation. My brother had to work since he is store manager and they were having a massive sale at the store and couldnt get out of it. But my brother came to the house afterwards with his girlfriend with a half dozen roses, 4 white and 2 red roses for me, which were done up beautifully and the bouquet was even wrapped in a blue and gold ribbon, which are my school colors. So even though neither one of them could come they still recongized I graduated and honored it. Again this meant alot to me, the simple gestures.

My mother and my step dad decided they were going to do a cook out a little one, but still some nice and small for some friends and family (intimate). I called a few friends and invited people. These are the three people who showed up. A friend of the family, Janice, and My brother and his girlfriend. No one else, besides my Mom, my stepdad, and myself where here. Oh my dog Libby was here as well. In regards to phone calls, the only person to call me and return my phone call was my friend Mike. Sadly he was supposed to go, but he overslept. Which is okay. We had a nice chat on the phone, and its not like he is going anywhere. He is looking at going to the same school I am transferring to. So that is awesome.

So sadly, again what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life, seems to have me in the dumps... Most would say, hey be happy, this shows who your real friends are. Well sadly this also shows me how lame I must be. Especially if my so called best friend blows me off.
