so here are some more interesting facts on our former presidents !


James Monroe - was the first president to ever ride on a steamboat & his daughter Maria was the first person ever to be married in the white house

John Quincy Adams - the first president to have his photograph taken in 1843. owned a pet alligator which he kept in the East Room of the White House.

Andrew Jackson - had a scar on his forehead that he received when he was thirteen-years-old. he received it when he was struck with a sword by a british officer when Jackson refused to clean the officer's boots. was the first president to ride on a train.

Martin Van Buren - the term "It's O.K." came from Van Buren, who grew up in kinderhook, new york. after he went into politics, he became known by the nickname "old kinderhook." Soon people were saying "is it OK?" reffering to Van Buren, and the word okay was derived.

William Henry Harrison - gave his 2 hour ignagural speach in the rain without wearing a hat.. caught pneumonia & died 31 days later. first president to die in office, & had the shortest term ever for a president. lead U.S. forces against American Indians at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811, where he earned the nickname "Tippecanoe". & while running for president.. used the slogan "Tippecanoe & Tyler too".
