Last year I got my hubby a golf gift cert. He went nuts. Years ago I got him his first set of golf clubs. I think im going to stay with the golf gift cert.
For my dad it will most likely be dinner and a card with some cash or a gift cert. Hes to hard to buy for and we never know what to get for him. So he can pick his own gift out this way and be happy or not happy with his own choice.
My father in law past years ago. We try to get out as close to fathers day as we can, but its a long drive. We always take the boys and flowers. The boys each have there own special rose color they take to grandpa everytime we go out.
I ask the kids what they like most about their dad and we go from there. One year they said that they like Dad because he's fun to play with, so we got him some fun things to play with the girls in the pool. (Amung other things.) (We lived in a place that had a pool then).
This is not unique and may not apply to older kids but the best one I ever got was when my son was 12. He saved up his money and took me out to dinner, asked me where I wanted to go and I said Popeyes (cheapest place around at the time). He was so proud to pay for it and told me to go sit down and hold us a table. Honestly, that was some of the best chicken I ever had in my life.
I gave my Dad the movie "No Country For Old Men" because I thought it was a funny comparison there. The only problem is he didn't get it, lol.... he doesn't have the sarcastic sense of humor me and my sister do I guess. he he he

My dad when he was alive loved getting his favorite aftershave for fathers day. We also bought him books.
