Girl Stung By Scorpian in WalMart

   I keep finding these weird stories this morning!  On the MSN homepage the story Girl Stung By Scorpian in WalMart is a bit scary.  She is fine since most scorpians are not deadly to humans, but I'm sure it's still traumatic for her.  I will think twice before picking up produce again!

i heard about this on the news . . . apparently, the shipment of watermelons that girl was looking through were shipped from mexico! luckily, the sting was nothing bad!

there are plenty of scorpions living in the US. you can find them in your shoes mostly. although the brown recluse spider is most often your cause of severe injury from an insect bite, and i believe the are found thruout the US. i'd keep an eye out for that more so than for scorpions myself.

Bugs of any kind.....spiders, bees, anything......they ALL give me the creeps. Now that I've read this my skin is crawling!

My daughter gave up eating bananas because one of her teachers told her that they sometimes have spiders in the tops. That was years ago. She hasn't touched one since.

Yikes, who would even think to look for such things in Wal-Mart. Maybe someone has a vendetta. I don't think they crawled in there by themselves do you?

Well after reading the article and given that it was from Mexico, maybe it was an accident. Might as well give them the benefit of the doubt.

I used to hate picking grapes for Mom to make jelly because the arbors were so full of spiders. If there had been scorpions, I'd have burned down those arbors. The jelly was really, really good, though.

Yikes! I didn't hear about this one. I had a friend who got bitten by a spider that was in a bag of lettuces! She said that she opened the bag, and put her hand in, and got bitten. So, now I usually spill it out when i get it, and check around (with a knife). Then I put it in one of those Green Bags when I know it is all clean.

Wow, first snakes, now scorpions...what will WalMart think of next!

as for the brown recluse spider, my daughter was bit by one in boot camp..she has had a rough time in the past from it

Yes, that would make you a little nervous shopping for produce after that incident, but I know it has to be very rare.
