MY GRAND-DAUGHTER THE SQUIRREL AND ME!

My granddaughter and I spent time together out side feeding the squirrels this week.

This was the cutest little guy. On both sides of his head there
is a scar. We didn't know whether he had been in a fight or if
he had a disease.

Here he is digging a hole to hide his peanut.

It was so funny to watch this guy bury peanuts in one spot and
dig them up from other spots!

This is my oldest grand-daughter, Esperanza holding a peanut.
She had so much fun, and I am so blessed to have been able
to spend this time with her!

What a fun time with your granddaughter. I see either you got your camera back or you bought a new one. Your granddaughter is beautiful.

Thank you all for your very kind and supportive comments. When I am able to get out with my camera it's like an escape for me. It helps get my mind off the bad stuff, and I feel like I am taken somewhere else. It's hard to explain. I feel like I am stepping out of myself (but not really) and able to be in the moment.

I thought you were saying that your granddaughter was the squirrel at first when I read the title of your photo essay, Miz Nina! How funny! I love the closeup shots you got of this little guy - what a cutie! I'd love to have the opportunity to get this close to a squirrel and take his mug shot as you have here! You did a great job! What kind of zoom lens do you have, Nina, and what kind of camera? "Inquiring minds need to know!" ;-D Poor little guy, though, with that awful sore on the right side of his head and eye. I do wonder if some more aggressive squirrel just bit him there. I hope he/she heals up.

P.S. I just looked at the closeup of the squirrel again, and if you look at the red spots, they're pretty much placed about where cat's teeth would be - even the sharp canine marks seem to show up. I'm now guessing it was a cat. Poor baby... Oh, and by the way, your granddaughter is lovely, Nina!

Nina, wonderful photo essay featuring one of my favorite little critters - your squirrel probably got into a fight with another male squirrel as this looks a bit like an injury - he's heal soon, hopefully - also as Elaine says, he could have gotten caught by a cat. The squirrels down in La. at mama's house are so tame that they forget about their predators - cats! Thanks for sharing this and also the picture of your beautiful granddaughter - I love her name as well. I am sorry I've not commented lately - remember the book I'm working on - well, it's keeping me busy - yesterday was the deadline but it's extended to today and who knows - I just need to get it done cause we need to bring it in for prototype...

Esperanza is beautiful. I bet she is a joy to have around. I wish I could spend more time with my granddaughters. Grandchildren are a treasure. Poor little squirrel. You got some great shots of him. I could spend hours watching the antics of the ones in our backyard.
