Too Many Close Calls

This has been a very stressful couple of weeks with too many close calls for my family. It started almost two weeks ago when I got a call from my Mom that my dad was in the hospital. He couldn't feel a pulse in his foot, and it turned out he had an aneurism in his groin and had to have surgury the following day. He was in danger of losing his leg, and also of dying if  things did not go well in surgury. He is home from the hospital, and recovering slowly, but still in a lot of pain.

Then this past Wednesday, I got a call from my younger daughter. I could tell from her voice that she was upset. She had just had a near miss accident. She was traveling at 40 mph when someone pulled out right in front of her. She swerved to miss the car, but the road was slippery, so her car skidded into the lane of oncoming traffic. Fortunately, there were no cars there at that moment (a miracle given the street she was on)

The following day, I got a call from my older daughter. She had been involved in a three car pile-up while traveling at 55mph. She was in her van with all four of my grandchildren and two teenage girls from church. Two of the cars were totaled (including her van), but thank God, no one was hurt...not even a scratch.

The next day (yesterday) my husband was installing a smoke alarm in a house he was working at. He had forgotten his ladder, so had to improvise by shimmying up to where he could reach it. He lost his footing, and just barely stopped himself from falling 20 feet down a long flight of stairs.

I have much to thank God for this week. I realize I could have lost many of the most precious people in my life over the last couple of weeks. God is good. He protected my family as only He can. I cannot thank Him enough!
