Contemplating whether or not I want to join Boomertowne!

Hello to all of my Gather friends!

I am contemplating whether or not I want to join Boomertowne. I have heard a few things here on Gather about it, and know that people are getting their rewards from it.  I currently have a laptop that I have been using, as some of you may have noticed that I am on here a little more frequently.

I am wondering if it is actually a good place for social gathering, which is why I love Gather so much, or if it is just a site that I am going to want to go and do what has to be done to get points?  I like the idea of being able to earn great rewards through the site.  I have Gather for my networking and content, and I do not really concern myself with the points on here.

With all of the back troubles that I have, and the fact that I am out of work, extra money is really needed in my household...SO, is Boomertowne really going to be a site that I can get rewards easily?  I do not know that I would be able to get enough referrals each month to qualify for the 10,000 additional points.  How easy is it to get these referrals?

Just some questions for the people who are already members.

For all of you who are not members yet, if I sign up...how likely would you be to sign up as a referral for me?

I love Boomertowne! I have already received on $25 Target giftcard and currently waiting for a $100 visa giftcard. My husband has enough points for $175 visa giftcard but we are holding out for a $250 giftcard.

hmm, I was thinking about joining too. I've heard a bit about it too but not from anyone who can give me any details about it. I'd be very interested to see what kind of responses you get here.

Both I and my husband are there. This weekend's mail brought us $100 from Boomertowne. THAT felt great, lol.
I don't consider it much of a social network. Not like Gather, anyway. It's a boring site, BUT, they have great prizes and points, and you can cash out fairly fast. I enjoy that aspect of the site.
Thanks for your input Amanda and Michelle. Is it for social networking or just for going through motions to earn points?

I have been a member of Boomertowne since mid January and have already received 3 $25 Target gift cards. They have all come within 2 weeks of cashing in. I have enough points for a fourth one now but I'm having issues and haven't been able to cash in. Hopefully, BT support will get this resolved quickly. Until then, I'll keep adding to my points and cash in when I get enough for $50.

I use it just for the points. They do have some interesting articles to read and discussion boards to post to. Plus, they have chat rooms.

that helps JoAnn. I am not really interested in trying to become invested in another social network so much. I want to devote as much of my social time as I can to Gather. That was one of my main concerns.

I like BT, its not fun but you can get awesome prizes for less than 45 minutes a day:)
Does it take up a lot of time to earn all these points?

It is okay....I use it for the points myself. I have cashed in for a $50 visa card and got an email last week saying it was sent.
As far as the referrals, I had my five join, but they didn't give me credit for my last one(it says he hasn't joined yet, but I know he has because he is on my friends list). I am too much of a Gather person because it is more personal and I just go on BT to keep the points going. Sometimes I am only on there 10 minutes at a time.

I think you should join. You can get rewards fairly quick and points are pretty easy to earn. I like the games and you get 10 points per game, they also have live chats that you get points for. I don't always get all the points, but some are better than none. I usually get at least 400 a day.
well, it seems that the points can definitely add up fairly quick, and that is really good.

I think a lot of my problem is that I get bored with it. But it is good to earn a little rewards. I haven't got my card yet, but it is coming. =)

I do it just for the points. The site bores me to death but I can max out the daily points in about 25 minutes and I can deal with the bordem considering the prizes are nice.

Tess, I love boomertowne. It can be as much of a networking place as you want it to be or it can be a place to just get points and prizes. I have met some really nice people on BT and wouldn't want to miss a day without talking to them or leaving a post on their message board. I love the chat rooms, that's where you can really get to know folks. There are some people there that are just wanting to get points and that's all, but you can get out of the site whatever you want.

If you decide to join my profile name is Kathyc send me a friend request. If you would like to get a referral to join let me know, I will send you one. For every 5 friends you get to sign up and participate in the points system in a months time you get 10000 points. I have 1 to go for the month of March.

I think you would like it there.

Kathy, thank you for the very good information. I think it sounds like a great place to earn rewards. I will not make my final decision until tomorrow. I will let you know if I need a referral for joining. That is one of my biggest concerns...it seems like the biggest point earner is referring people, and I am not sure that I will be able to get the referrals to make it.

I will gladly help someone else with reaching their referral goal if I do sign up.

For me, it is just about getting the points and getting out of there. I just got a box of golf balls from them the other day. For the time that I spent, it was worth it, but it is no where near Gather.

My name on BT is par1180, if you decide to join and would like to connect. BT is certainly not like gather, - gather to me is more personal and I love that because I have really gotten close to a lot of my gather friends, have actually met 2 in person and plans to meet another gather friend soon. I have not done any referrals but I try to max out my points each day. I have actually made more gather friends from the BT chatrooms so I consider that a plus! BT does have a lot of great news which I do enjoy reading but compared to gather it is slow and can be boring at times but I in know way regret having joined BT.............love the giftcards!!!

Sandy, you are quite right! If I meet my 1500 points limit each day, I will be able to redeem for $75 in about 26 days!!! THat is GREAT!!!

You can get as much or as little as you want out of BT; there is so much to go through.
I too like the chat rooms though many people are not as friendly there as they are here in Gather. You have a better experience with gather.
However you said you needed money for your house hold and that would bring some funds in quickly for you. You are allowed 1500 points a day max.
Their point system is very clear. It takes me about 30 to 40 minutes to get my points.

It took me 33 days to get enough for $100 card but am holding out for the $250.

Hope to see you over there; between chat and the message boards that is how you can communicate with friends family and connections. I have met some fanastic people there and some that aren't so fanastic but that is the way the world is anyway. lol

This sounds like it could be helpful. I am going on a trip to Disney world in September so I am trying to find all of the ways I can to make money and get gifts cards for that trip (because I know it's expensive). Thanks for sharing!
