I created a collection of art cards from a photo of our MayHill Farms bamboo in a gentle Washington rain and called the collection "Bamboo In A Gentle Rain" Turning the photo into a negative, I brought color back to the canvas with a focus on the sayings and verses that came to me. Bamboo is so rich with color and hue and each canvas celebrates the natural art of bamboo. There are times in the life cycle of bamboo that all of these colors and hues are present. I print these cards on recycled paper with soy ink to be a little better to the earth. It has been my pleasure to give my cards as gifts and often, I will donate a full basket of the cards to charity auctions. They usually bring a small but helpful bid. This past year, I decided to enter my collection in the American Bamboo Society Arts and Crafts Competetion. Such a stretch for me! Just like sharing my heart on Gather, this felt like a risky step but I pressed on to share my work with the Bamboo Society. I just got a letter informing me that I have honorable mention and that my cards will be displayed at the American Bamboo Society Annual Convention. My heart is full and grateful. That is so much more than I thought and am very happy with this honor. Because you are my friends, I share my collection with you all.
