We took a wrong turn on our way to visit my Mom in Santa Clara,California. To be fair, it has been, perhaps, 25 years since I have been in the city but to be honest, I get lost a lot. Lost never seems too upsetting to me, I just get found again. Bruce began to mentally review our knowledge of city streets to negotiate a way back to the freeway but it did not take long for the charm of this incredible city to grab our hearts. We ceased to seek escape and began to truly enjoy the sights, the sounds and even some yummy sourdough bread from a hole-in-the neighborhood bakery. Looking down streets, looking up at some magnificent architecture and looking around at the "city folk" , we spent a truly wonderful day in this city by the bay. Here is a little cinquain and an altered photo of one of the sights.

Your story reminds me of the summer of 1959 when I was in summer school in Evanston, IL. A friend was driving by, spotted me walking along the sidewalk, swung her VW beetle into an illegal parking spot and came running toward me in her bright yellow dress, arms outstretched. We chatted and agreed to get together for dinner at a German restaurant with singing waiters. She picked me up in her dad's Cadillac and I drove. I had never been to Matt Igler's and had not driven in Chicago much, but I knew where it was. So I drove until I didn't like that street very much, turned right or left, and proceeded until I decided to turn again. Finally I turned left, went 3/4 way around the block and parked at Matt Igler's. Ev was incredulous! "I've lived in Chicago all my life and I have no idea how you got here!"
Sorry, Karen. Everything reminds me of a story!
U wishing you laughter
I love it!
